Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is a common complaint experienced by women during menstruation and has a significant impact on adolescent girls. One factor that can contribute to dysmenorrhea is the consumption of fast food, as the trans fatty acids it contains can trigger stronger prostaglandin contractions, leading to menstrual disturbances. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between fast food consumption and the incidence of dysmenorrhea in female adolescents.A quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach was employed, with a population of 238 female students and a sample size of 70 participants determined using Slovin’s formula. The results showed that 29 individuals frequently consumed fast food. At the same time, the most common incidence of dysmenorrhea among female adolescents was categorized as moderate pain, reported by 28 participants, with a significant value of 0.000. The conclusion drawn was that there was a significant relationship between fast food consumption and the incidence of dysmenorrhea in female adolescents at SMA Negeri 3 Gorontalo.
