Abstract

The Iqra method is known to be effective in introducing the hijaiyah letters to early childhood through an individual approach with teacher guidance using Iqra books and other supporting media. However, based on initial observations at PAUD Alam Cahaya Hasanah Banda Aceh, researchers found that teachers had obstacles in implementing the Iqra method so that children were less interest  ed in focusing on learning, children had difficulty pronouncing the letters. These obstacles were so that this study aimed to analyze the obstacles faced by teachers in implementing the Iqra method. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observations, interviews, and document analysis. The subjects of this study consisted of early childhood education (PAUD) teachers, school principals, and parents of students at one PAUD institution, PAUD Alam Cahaya Hasanah. Data collection techniques included observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The instruments used were observation guidelines, interview guides, and documentation sheets. Data analysis was conducted using thematic analysis, which involved the processes of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions based on emerging patterns and themes. The results of the study indicate that the main obstacles in implementing the Iqra method include the lack of teacher training tailored to the characteristics of early childhood learners, instructional methods that are not fully adapted to children’s cognitive and emotional development, limited availability of supporting learning media, and low parental involvement. It is recommended that the Iqra method be adapted to incorporate more interactive and play-based approaches, as well as efforts to enhance teacher capacity through specialized training.   ABSTRAK  Metode Iqra dikenal efektif dalam memperkenalkan huruf hijaiyah pada anak usia dini melalui pendekatan individual dengan bimbingan guru menggunakan buku Iqra dan media pendukung lainnya. Namun, berdasarkan observasi awal di PAUD Alam Cahaya Hasanah Banda Aceh peneliti menemukan bahwasanya guru memiliki kendala dalam menerapkan metode Iqra’ sehingga anak-anak kurang minat fokus dalam pembelajaran, anak-anak kesulitan dalam melafalkan huruf hijaiyah. Dari kendala itu tadi sehingga penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kendala yang dihadapi guru dalam menerapkan metode iqra’.  Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan studi dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari guru PAUD, kepala sekolah, dan orang tua peserta didik di salah satu lembaga PAUD Alam Cahaya Hasanah. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara semi-terstruktur, dan dokumentasi. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi pedoman observasi, pedoman wawancara, dan lembar dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis tematik, yang mencakup proses reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan berdasarkan pola-pola dan tema yang muncul. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kendala utama dalam penerapan metode Iqra antara lain kurangnya pelatihan guru yang sesuai dengan karakteristik anak usia dini, metode penyampaian yang belum sepenuhnya adaptif terhadap perkembangan kognitif dan emosional anak, keterbatasan media pembelajaran pendukung, serta rendahnya keterlibatan orang tua. Disarankan agar metode Iqra disesuaikan dengan pendekatan yang lebih interaktif dan berbasis bermain, serta perlunya peningkatan kapasitas guru melalui pelatihan khusus.
