Abstract

Indonesia is a country rich in ethnic, racial, religious, ethnic and cultural diversity. Of the various cultures that spread from sabang to merauke, there is one of the Tiban Dance cultures originating from Wajak Village, Boyolangu District, Tulungagung Regency, East Java. Tiban dance is a ritual or tradition to ask God for rain that is performed during the dry season. Tiban dance comes from the word "tiban or tiba" which means fall in Javanese. There are several movements performed during the Tiban Dance ritual such as, walking motion, mecut motion, stance motion, and ngece or mocking. Tiban dance has values that are in line with the principles of Pancasila. With the expression of its movements, the symbols used, and the philosophical message it conveys, Tiban Dance can be understood as a representation of the noble principles of Pancasila.
