Abstract

This literature review explores the role of nonverbal communication in the context of television journalism, particularly in the Meet nite live program broadcast by Metro TV. In television news delivery, communication is not solely reliant on verbal elements but is significantly supported by nonverbal cues such as facial expressions, gestures, eye contact, vocal intonation, and spatial use. Drawing from established theories of nonverbal communication and journalism studies, this paper examines how such nonverbal elements contribute to message construction, audience perception, and the credibility of presenters. The findings highlight that nonverbal communication in journalistic broadcasts serves not only to support verbal content but also to convey attitudes, manage impressions, and regulate interactions within the studio setting. This review aims to provide theoretical insights for future empirical research and offers recommendations for journalists and media practitioners to enhance the effectiveness and professionalism of news presentation.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relevance between news headlines and leads in the Peristiwa section of netralnews.com during the period of March 30, 2025. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method through direct observation of 16 news articles published within that period. The findings show that most of the analyzed articles fulfill the principle of relevance between headline and lead, although several are found to be inconsistent due to deviations from the lead content. Such inconsistencies tend to arise from clickbait practices aimed at increasing reader engagement. This study emphasizes the importance of consistency between headlines and leads as part of journalistic ethics and maintaining the credibility of online media.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze audience interaction patterns toward international news content published on the official Instagram account of ANTARA News. Unlike previous studies focusing on distribution strategies, this research emphasizes engagement analysis using a mixed-methods approach that combines quantitative data (likes, comments, hashtags) and qualitative data (caption and visual content analysis). The study employs a mixed-methods design, collecting quantitative data from posts uploaded in June 2025 and qualitative insights from five top-engagement posts. The results indicate that audience engagement levels positively correlate with the relevance of themes, visual clarity, and narrative depth in captions. These findings support Social Media Engagement Theory (van Doorn) and Media Convergence (Jenkins), highlighting the importance of interaction-based content management in shaping editorial direction and optimizing international news distribution strategies on digital platforms.
