Abstract

Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) is a health problem that often occurs in adolescent girls, especially due to lack of knowledge and awareness of reproductive health. Health education is one of the important strategies in preventing UTI. Objective: To analyze the effectiveness of health education in improving understanding and behavior of adolescent girls in preventing UTI through a literature review. Method: Searching articles from Google Scholar and PubMed with related keywords. After going through a selection process based on inclusion criteria, five selected articles were analyzed based on the effectiveness of health education in improving knowledge, awareness, motivation, attitudes, and behavior of adolescents towards preventing UTI. Results: Health education plays a significant role in improving understanding and healthy behavior of adolescent girls. Discussion: Interactive educational methods such as lectures and video media have been shown to be more effective than conventional methods such as leaflets or other printed materials. Conclusion: An innovative and technology-based educational approach is needed to improve the effectiveness of UTI prevention programs in adolescent girls. Therefore, educational institutions and health workers are advised to develop more interesting and easy-to-understand educational strategies to increase awareness and reduce the prevalence of UTI among adolescents.
