Abstract

This paper explores the relationship between humans and the cosmos through the framework of Alfred North Whitehead's process philosophy. In contrast to classical metaphysical views that emphasize static substances, Whitehead sees reality as an interconnected, dynamic network of processes that is constantly subject to change. Within this framework, humans are not positioned as neutral observers separate from the universe, but as integral parts of the cosmic dynamics that mutually influence each other. This process philosophy resonates strongly with contemporary scientific developments such as quantum physics, astrophysics, and ecology which emphasize relationality, uncertainty, and complexity in the structure of the universe. Beyond epistemological and ontological aspects, Whitehead’s approach also offers significant ethical and spiritual contributions through the concept of cosmic ethics. Humans are understood as “co-creators” within the network of life, responsible for sustaining the ecosystem and cosmic harmony. This paper suggests that integrating philosophy, science, and spirituality within a processual perspective can foster a paradigm shift in understanding human existence and its responsibility toward the planet's future.
