The low critical thinking ability of fifth grade students of SDN 1 Muara Dua in Civics subjects causes low student grades, because learning does not use supporting learning media so that students do not understand and are less interested in Civics learning. For this reason, audio-visual media learning media are needed. This study aims to determine the effect of audio-visual media on students' critical thinking abilities in Civics learning of fifth grade students of SDN Muara Dua. This type of research is quantitative research with a Quasi Experiment approach. The population in this study were all fifth grade students of SDN 1 Muara Dua totaling 100 students. The sampling of this study used Random sampling. The sample in this study was from two classes, namely 25 students of class V/a as the Control class and 25 students of class V/c as the experimental group. The data collection technique in this study was a test technique in the form of a pretest and posttest. With data analysis using SPSS 25 software. Hypothesis testing using the T test (Independent Sample T-test). Based on the results of the study, tcount 5.825> ttable = 1.677 at a significance level of 0.05, then Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. It can be concluded that there is an influence of audio-visual media on students' critical thinking skills in the Civics subject of fifth grade students of SDN 1 Muara Dua, because audio-visual media has a positive impact on students being more active in understanding, honing critical thinking skills and inviting students to be more active in solving problems related to the material of rights and obligations.
