Abstract

This research examines the foundations and goals of heart education according to the views of Ibnu Qayyim Al-Jauziyah, an Islamic thinker who lived in the 14th century AD. Heart training is considered a central aspect in the development of individual and social character, and Ibn Qayyim is considered one of the figures who made an important contribution to this. The research method is literary analysis of Ibnu Qayyim Al-Jauziyah's work which focuses on education of the heart. The research results show that his thinking is based on moral values, ethics and Islamic principles which are the basis for education of the heart. Furthermore, according to Ibnu Qayyim Al-Jauziyah, the core educational goals are related to noble morals, spiritual awareness and self-control. Abstract

Islamic education plays a strategic role in character formation, but the dominance of the modern education system, which tends to be materialistic, often neglects the spiritual dimension of students. This study aims to reconstruct the philosophical foundation of Islamic education through an in-depth study of ontology and metaphysics, and analyze its implications for curriculum development and learning methodology in the contemporary era. By applying a library research method based on a qualitative-descriptive approach, this research critically examines authoritative literature from classical thinkers such as Al-Farabi, Ibn Sina, and Al-Ghazali to the views of contemporary scholars. The research findings reveal that ontologically, Islamic education views humans as multidimensional beings with rational and spiritual potential to achieve the status of insan kamil. Meanwhile, the metaphysical perspective emphasizes that the reality of education is not limited to empirical aspects, but is integrated with transcendental values ??where revelation and intuition become valid sources of knowledge alongside reason. It is concluded that the integration of ontology and metaphysics is an absolute foundation for building a holistic educational paradigm, which is able to balance intellectual intelligence with spiritual maturity in order to produce a generation that is adaptive but still based on divine values. ABSTRAK Pendidikan Islam memegang peran strategis dalam pembentukan karakter, namun dominasi sistem pendidikan modern yang cenderung materialistik sering kali mengabaikan dimensi spiritualitas peserta didik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merekonstruksi landasan filosofis pendidikan Islam melalui kajian mendalam mengenai ontologi dan metafisika, serta menganalisis implikasinya terhadap pengembangan kurikulum dan metodologi pembelajaran di era kontemporer. Dengan menerapkan metode studi kepustakaan (library research) berbasis pendekatan kualitatif-deskriptif, riset ini menelaah secara kritis literatur otoritatif dari pemikir klasik seperti Al-Farabi, Ibnu Sina, dan Al-Ghazali hingga pandangan sarjana kontemporer. Temuan penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa secara ontologis, pendidikan Islam memandang manusia sebagai makhluk multidimensi yang memiliki potensi rasional dan spiritual untuk mencapai derajat insan kamil. Sementara itu, perspektif metafisika menegaskan bahwa realitas pendidikan tidak terbatas pada aspek empiris, melainkan terintegrasi dengan nilai-nilai transendental di mana wahyu dan intuisi menjadi sumber pengetahuan yang valid bersanding dengan akal. Disimpulkan bahwa integrasi ontologi dan metafisika merupakan fondasi mutlak untuk membangun paradigma pendidikan yang holistik, yang mampu menyeimbangkan kecerdasan intelektual dengan kematangan spiritual guna mencetak generasi yang adaptif namun tetap berlandaskan nilai ketuhanan.
