Abstract

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disease characterized by elevated blood glucose levels due to impaired insulin function. One of the chronic complications that often occurs is peripheral neuropathy, which is characterized by decreased foot sensitivity. Diabetic foot exercises are a non-pharmacological therapy that can help improve blood circulation and improve peripheral nerve function. To improve patients' knowledge and ability to perform foot exercises and observe their effects on foot sensitivity and blood glucose levels. Community service activities were carried out using the methods of socialization, demonstration, and evaluation of 20 type 2 DM patients in the Rengasdengklok ward of Karawang Regional Hospital. Activities included counseling, foot exercise practice, and blood glucose level checks before and after the intervention. Participants showed an increase in knowledge from 62% to 92%. After performing foot exercises regularly for three days, there was a decrease in blood glucose levels by an average of 20–30 mg/dL and increased foot sensitivity. Socialization of the application of foot exercises effectively increased the knowledge and ability of type 2 DM patients and helped lower blood glucose levels and improve foot sensitivity.

Abstract

High uric acid (gout arthritis) is a metabolic disorder caused by increased uric acid levels in the blood, which causes joint pain and inflammation. One complementary therapy that can be used is consuming boiled water from Moringa oleifera leaves, which contain active compounds such as flavonoids, saponins, and tannins that play a role in lowering uric acid levels. This community service activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of the community in the work area of the Sukatani Community Health Center UPTD, Purwakarta Regency, in administering boiled water from Moringa leaves to lower uric acid levels. The activity implementation method uses a lecture, demonstration, and simulation approach. The activity participated in 40 people consisting of the general public and health cadres. Evaluation was carried out using pre-tests and post-tests to assess knowledge gains, as well as observation of skills during the simulation practice. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' knowledge from an average of 58% (pre-test) to 89% (post-test). In addition, 90% of participants were able to simulate chest compressions and artificial ventilation with the correct technique. Participants also showed high enthusiasm in participating in the entire series of activities. Socialization and training on the use of boiled moringa leaves have proven effective in increasing the knowledge and skills of the community in the Sukatani Community Health Center (Puskesmas) work area. Boiled moringa leaves effectively reduced uric acid levels in respondents with mild to moderate gouty arthritis. This therapy can be used as a non-pharmacological, complementary alternative to help control uric acid levels naturally

Abstract

Hypertension or high blood pressure is a condition where the systolic blood pressure is more than 140 mmHg and the diastolic blood pressure is more than 90 mmHg, if not treated it will increase the risk of heart, brain, kidney and stroke disease. According to WHO (2019), the global prevalence of hypertension is 22%, the number of hypertension sufferers in Indonesia has reached 34.11% and continues to increase every year. Riskesdas, (2018) the prevalence of hypertension in West Java is 39.60%, while the measurement results in Purwakarta Regency are 36.79, this prevalence is greater than the prevalence in Indonesia. In the Plered Community Health Center area, data on outpatient hypertension patients was found to be 16.2% (Plered Community Health Center Annual Report, 2022). Researchers aim to provide complementary therapy application of cucumber juice in lowering blood pressure in family members with hypertension. The research used was a Quasi Experiment Design with the design used being a one group pretest – Posttest design. Research results Analysis of the effect of giving cucumber juice on reducing blood pressure in hypertensive families from statistical tests shows the difference between the average systolic blood pressure in the pre-test and post-test intervention groups. The results obtained were p value = 0.000 [p<α (α=0.05)], so it was concluded that there was a difference in the average systolic blood pressure before and after being given cucumber juice. Conclusion: One implementation of nursing in families with hypertension that can be applied by utilizing one of the family's roles and functions (family care function or health maintenance) can be the application of complementary therapy with cucumber juice. This therapy can be carried out independently by the family and even by the sufferer himself, but still with the guidelines taught by the nurse

The results of research using warm red ginger compresses which were carried out for 5 days and within 15 minutes each day for one respondent, there was a decrease, initially on a scale of 5 and on the last day to a scale of 3. From the results of the research conducted by researchers, it was in line with the journals taken and there was a decrease by applying a warm red ginger compress. Based on the results of the bivariate analysis, the mean pain before the warm compress was applied was 5.57 ± 1.73, while the average pain after the warm compress was applied was 3.80 ± 1.42. Based on the results of statistical tests using the Paired Samples Test, it was found that ρ value = 0.000, with a value of α = 0.05 (ρ < α), meaning that there was an effect of warm compresses with ginger on the intensity of pain in elderly people with rheumatoid arthritis at the 23 Ilir Palembang Health Center. 2022 with an average score difference of 1.77
