Abstract

This study examines teacher professionalism from a theoretical perspective and its implications for English Language Teaching (ELT) in response to rapid digital transformation, curriculum shifts, and learner diversity. Drawing on a thematic analysis of 20 scholarly articles published between 2021 and 2025, the data were gathered using Publish or Perish (PoP), which retrieves sources from Google Scholar and CrossRef. The reviewed literature reflects current trends and issues in ELT, particularly within the theme “Bridging the Future: Innovating Education through Adaptive Pedagogies.” Findings reveal that teacher professionalism extends beyond the four basic competencies pedagogical, professional, social, and personal to include reflective practice, digital literacy, and adaptive thinking. Strategic approaches such as continuous professional development (CPD), blended learning, peer collaboration, and leadership development are identified. Despite these, challenges persist, including unequal access to training, administrative burden, and gender-related barriers. The study emphasizes the need for inclusive, integrated, and technology-responsive CPD models to empower teachers as adaptive change agents in the evolving ELT landscape.

Abstract

This article discusses the results of qualitative research on the application of digital literacy in English language learning for Generation Alpha students at SMP Islam Al-Azhaar Tulungagung. The research aims to explore the technology-based learning methods implemented at the school, as well as its impact on the teaching-learning process. As information technology advances, digital literacy has become an essential skill for students to access, evaluate and utilize information effectively. Some of the innovative approaches identified in this study include the use of digital libraries, learning apps and interactive platforms to enhance the learning experience. The results show that the integration of digital literacy in learning not only creates a more enjoyable and varied learning atmosphere but also increases students' engagement in the learning process. In addition, digital literacy is able to prepare students to face global challenges in the future. However, this study also found some significant challenges, such as limited access to technology, lack of teacher training, and different levels of understanding of technology between students and educators. Despite the obstacles, the implementation of digital literacy has great potential in improving the quality of learning at Al-Azhaar Tulungagung Islamic Junior High School, especially in creating a more competent generation in the digital era. Keywords:  Digital literacy, Generation  Alpha

Abstract

The study of classical exegesis is important in order to maintain the authenticity of Qur'anic interpretation. The research gap of this study lies in the limited number of works that classify the elements of al-ashīl and al-dakhīl at the level of specific verses in Tafsir al-Khazin. Although widely known and frequently used, this commentary is often considered to contain elements of al-dakhīl, especially through isrā'īliyyāt narratives. This raises the question, how the elements of al-ashīl and al-dakhīl can be identified in the interpretation of QS. Yusuf, verses 23-24, in Tafsir al-Khazin? This study aims to analyze and classify these elements and assess their implications for understanding the story of Prophet Yusuf. The selected verses are significant because they contain a well-known narrative that has attracted broad attention. The research employs a qualitative, library-based approach, using descriptive-critical analysis of the exegetical text, the cited narrations, and comparisons with the principles of interpretation and prophetic infallibility. The findings of this study indicate that the al-ashīl elements in al-Khazin's tafsir are identified through the use of Qur'anic verses, hadith, and authentic scholarly opinions. Meanwhile, the al-dakhīl elements are identified through fabricated isrā'īliyyāt reports that contradict the principle of prophetic infallibility and are presented without adequate critical examination. In fact, the use of al-dakhīl elements appears to be more dominant than al-ashīl elements. This study has the potential to offer a methodological contribution to Qur'anic exegesis and to support efforts to preserve the authenticity of interpretation within the broader scholarly discourse.
