Abstract

This study aims to analyse the role of the madrasah principal and school culture in improving teacher performance at Muhammadiyah Schools in South Sulawesi. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis related to school education policies. The results showed that the principal's role in creating professional development programs, such as training and workshops, and in fostering a collaborative and supportive school culture, had a significant influence on teacher performance. Additionally, providing rewards and appreciation for teachers' work plays a crucial role in enhancing their motivation and commitment to the learning process. This study suggests that the principal plays a crucial role in enhancing teacher performance through professional development programs, such as training and workshops. Furthermore, creating a collaborative and supportive school culture, as well as providing appreciation for teachers' work, has proven effective in increasing their motivation and commitment. Therefore, principals need to design policies that support teacher professional development and appreciation to encourage better learning quality.
