<![CDATA[Reality has been tried to decrypt by humanity. Comprehending and standardizing the concept of reality have been our lifetime learning process as intellectual beings. The concepts of natural reality such as day-night, eclipses, and sea tides are successfully decrypted into the physical language in ways we can comprehend and pass on. Nevertheless, such verified and tested conception of natural reality, which is seawater tides, proved to be having a decadence in the concept itself. This research aims to investigate how physics students of UIN Malang conceive the phenomenon of seawater tides. The results of this investigation are used to be compared with the objective reality and finally be seen through Peter L. Berger’s theory, Social Construction of Reality. This research is field research with a case study approach. The researcher gathered the necessary data by conducting interviews. As a result, this research indicated the presence of decadency on the concept of seawater tides in UIN Malang physics students as Berger’s theory indicated that this decadency was caused by the informants’ prior source of information came as they studied in the elementary and junior high school. Realitas telah lama berusaha didekripsikan oleh umat manusia. Proses pemahaman dan pembakuan konsep realitas telah lama kita lalui sebagai makhluk intelektual. Konsep realitas natural seperti siang-malam, gerhana, dan pasang surut air laut berhasil kita dekripsi menjadi bahasa fisis yang dapat kita pahami dan wariskan. Kendati demikian, konsepsi realitas natural yang sudah teruji dan terverifikasi yaitu pasang surut air laut mengalami dekadensi konsep. Penelitian ini mencoba menginvestigasi bagaimana mahasiswa jurusan Fisika UIN Malang memahami realitas fenomena pasang surut air laut yang kemudian hasil investigasi tersebut dibandingkan dengan realitas objektifnya dan diteropong melalui kaca mata teori konstruksi sosial atas realitas milik Peter L. Berger. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian lapangan dengan pendekatan studi kasus (case study). Peneliti mengumpulkan data-data yang dibutuhkan melalui teknik wawancara. Hasilnya, terdapat dekadensi konsep fenomena pasang surut air laut pada mahasiswa jurusan Fisika UIN Malang. Adapun jika ditelaah dengan menggunakan teori Berger, ditemukan bahwa dekadensi ini disebabkan oleh sumber informasi para informan yang berasal ketika mereka menempuh pendidikan di bangku pendidikan dasar dan menengah]]>
