Abstract

The Qur'an is the greatest miracle of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, possessing a beauty of language, structure, and harmony of meaning that cannot be matched by humans. One aspect of this miracle is seen in the harmony or harmony between parts of the Qur'an, both between verses, chapters, and between the opening and closing of a letter. The study of munasabah is important because it can provide a more comprehensive understanding of the content of the Qur'an and show the regularity of its structure. This study aims to analyze the forms of harmony of the Qur'an in Tafsir al-Azhar by Buya Hamka and reveal the interpretative methods used in explaining the harmony of verses and letters. The scope of the study focuses on the forms of harmony between letters, between verses, and between the opening and closing of a letter in Tafsir al-Azhar. This study uses a library research method with a descriptive-analytical approach through a study of primary sources in the form of Tafsir al-Azhar and supported by various literature on the science of the Qur'an and munasabah. The results of the study show that Buya Hamka interprets the munasabah of the Qur'an thematically and contextually by emphasizing the harmonious relationship between the meanings of verses and letters. This harmony is seen in the relationship between surah al-Fatihah and al-Baqarah, the connection between the themes of faith and disbelief in surah al-Baqarah, and the relationship between the opening and closing of surahs such as in surah Shad. The novelty of this study lies in revealing the pattern of munasabah in Tafsir al-Azhar as a Nusantara interpretation that combines literary, social, and thematic approaches in understanding the Qur'an. This research has implications for strengthening the study of Nusantara interpretation and developing a holistic understanding of the structure and message of the Qur'an.
