Abstract

In 2024, Indonesia hosted a new wave of Rohingya refugees, seeking refuge from violence and persecution in Myanmar and deteriorating conditions in refugee camps in Bangladesh. This study aims to analyze the role of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in coordinating and leading the international response to the Rohingya refugee crisis in Indonesia. This research methodology involves secondary data analysis from UNHCR reports, case studies and relevant news sources. The research results show that UNHCR plays an important role in providing humanitarian assistance, protection and support to Rohingya refugees. However, challenges remain, including a lack of funding, the need for stronger regional cooperation, and the need for long-term, sustainable solutions. This research underscores the importance of continued international support and the federal government's commitment to addressing Rohingya displacement regionally. Additionally, these findings emphasize the need for a more coordinated and integrated approach involving all stakeholders, including government, non-governmental organizations, and local communities, to ensure that the response to Rohingya refugees in Indonesia is effective and sustainable.
