Abstract

Kata Kunci: prokrastinasi akademik; problem focused coping; mahasiswa akhir Procrastination is the self-regulatory failure that results in the intentional delay of work. One of the influencing factors of procrastination is problem-focused coping. This study is a quantitative correlational research aiming to investigate the relationship between problem-focused coping and academic procrastination. The participants in this study were 130 final-year students at Satya Wacana Christian University who were working on their final assignments, selected through purposive sampling. The instruments used were Carver's Cope Inventory (1989) and the Tuckman Procrastination Scale (TPS) by B.W. Tuckman (1991). The findings reveal a significant negative correlation between problem-focused coping and academic procrastination, with a correlation coefficient of -0.490 and a significance level of 0.000 (p < 0.05). This research suggests that enhancing problem-focused coping strategies among students facing academic pressures could reduce tendencies toward academic procrastination in completing final assignments. Keywords: academic procrastination; problem-focused coping; final-year students
