Abstract

Family caregivers provide care in hospitals because they feel responsible for cancer patients, so that there are changes experienced by family caregivers, including changes in physical health, social roles, finances, and psychology. Psychological changes such as stress can affect the health of family caregivers. This study aims to identify features of family caregiver stress in caring for cancer patients. This research uses a quantitative descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach. The research sample consisted of 31 respondents at Arifin Achmad Hospital, Riau Province. Data were collected using the Perceived Stress Scale – 10 (PSS-10) questionnaire. Validity and reliability tests were carried out with validity test results of 0.609-0.913 and a Cronbach alpha value of 0.909. The analysis used is univariate analysis. The results of this study indicate that the majority of family caregivers experience moderate stress in caring for cancer patients.
