Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of the Phubbing phenomenon on the communication patterns of Generation Z students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Buton. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this research reveals that Smartphone dependence, job demands, peer influence, introverted personality traits, and personal issues are the main factors driving Phubbing behavior. Phubbing has been shown to reduce the quality of face-to-face communication and affect students' social interactions and academic performance. In conclusion, Phubbing significantly impacts students' communication patterns, highlighting the need for a balance between technology use and direct interaction.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran konsep diri dalam membangun personal branding influencer mahasiswa Ilmu Komunikasi di Universitas Muhammadiyah Buton di TikTok. Menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa konsep diri berperan penting dalam memperkuat personal branding. Tiga Informan, yaitu Ld. Muh. Zaitullah, Muh. Vasly Ibrahim C., dan Rio Irawan, masing-masing menggunakan TikTok untuk membangun citra diri di bidang wisata, fashion, dan tinju. Meskipun terdapat tantangan dalam menonjolkan kepribadian dan meningkatkan interaksi dengan followers, mereka berhasil membangun identitas yang autentik dan relevan di platform Tiktok.
