Abstract

Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran kemampuan atensi anak tunagrahita di UPTD Panti Sosial Bina Grahita “Harapan Ibu” Padang. Atensi adalah kemampuan untuk memfokuskan perhatian pada masalah yang dihadapi. Anak tunagrahita merupakan anak yang mempunyai fungsi intelektual di bawah rata-rata sehingga sulit untuk memusatkan perhatian dengan tepat. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Subjek penelitian berjumlah tiga orang anak tunagrahita mampu latih. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan ketiga subjek belum mampu memusatkan perhatian dengan tepat. Subjek B sulit memfokuskan perhatiannya terhadap suatu hal dan mudah menangis ketika teralihkan dengan hal lain . Berbeda dengan subjek B, subjek Z mudah marah terhadap setiap hal dan tidak bisa memfokuskan perhatiannya ketika sedang belajar di kelas ataupun melakukan pekerjaan di asrama. Sedangkan subjek S juga kurang mampu dalam memfokuskan perhatiannya terhadap suatu pekerjaan ketika diganggu oleh temannya dan akan menunjukkan sikap merajuk ke temannya tersebut. This research aims to determine the description of the attention abilities of mentally retarded children at UPTD Panti Sosial Bina Grahita “Harapan Ibu” Padang. Attention is the ability to focus attention on the problem at hand. Izzntellectually retarded children are children who have below average intellectual function so that it is difficult for them to focus their attention properly. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The research subjects were three mentally retarded children who were able to train. The results of this study showed that the three subjects were not able to focus their attention properly. Subject B finds it difficult to focus his attention on one thing and cries easily when distracted by other things. In contrast to subject B, subject Z gets angry easily about everything and cannot focus his attention when studying in class or doing work in the dormitory. Meanwhile, subject S is also less able to focus his attention on a job when disturbed by his friend and will show a sulky attitude towards his friend. Keywords: attention, mental retardatio
