Abstract

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a virus that attacks the immune system. If HIV is not treated, it can lead to AIDS (Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome). The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between understanding of HIV in people living with HIV and a healthy lifestyle in living life. This research is a descriptive study using a cross-sectional method. Data collection was carried out in February 2022 at the VCT Clinic of RSUD T.C. Hillers, Maumere, East Nusa Tenggara. Samples were taken by total sampling. The researcher asked the subject's willingness voluntarily and gave informed consent to participate in the study. Questionnaires were given to assess the knowledge and lifestyle of the research subjects. The questionnaire consists of three parts with a total of 81 questions. During one month of February 2022, there were 40 HIV-positive research subjects at the VCT Clinic who were willing to become subjects of the study by filling out the questionnaire provided. The results of this study indicate that there is a strong relationship between understanding HIV and the lifestyle of ODHA. A positive value indicates a one-way relationship between the two variables, the higher the understanding of HIV, the better the pattern of life. From the t-count value is 3.287 with a significance value of 0.002 <0.05, which means that the understanding of HIV among ODHA has a real or significant effect on the lifestyle of ODHA.

Abstract

Intra Uterine Growth Restrictions (IUGR) are defined as fetal growth rates less than normal fetal growth potential for certain neonates or failure of the fetus to reach its growth potential. The greatest incidence of intrauterine growth restriction in developing countries is multifactorial and involves a complex collaboration of fetal, placental and maternal factors, although maternal factors are the predominant cause. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between education level and the incidence of IUGR at RSUD Prof. Dr. W.Z. Johannes Kupang. This research is a descriptive study using a retrospective cross-sectional method. Data collection was carried out in November 2022 - January 2023 at RSUD Prof. Dr. W. Z. Johannes Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara. Samples were taken by total sampling with the number 110 samples being the final smaples. The results of this study indicate that there is a relationship between education level and the incidence of IUGR. The value of each Pearson Correlation variable is 0.711 which means r count > from r table (0.245 with a significance value of 0.005). If the calculated r value is greater than the r table value, the Pearson Correlation analysis means that there is a correlation with these variables

Abstract

Cervical incompetence is the inability of the cervix to maintain a pregnancy due to functional or structural defects in the cervix. Transvaginal ultrasound examination is the gold standard for determining an incompetent cervix. The patient is a 36-year-old woman with a history of 6 preterm births with no known cause. The patient first came with preterm labor but was sent home and 2 days later came back to the emergency room after spontaneous delivery at home. Supportive treatment such as cerclage sutures can prevent infection and can maintain gestation to term to prevent the dangers of preterm labor.

Abstract

A 41-year-old male with a 2-month history of left-sided abdominal pain and renal stones was treated at Prof. W. Z. Johannes Hospital, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. The patients’ primary drinking water sources were rivers and refillable bottles, which elevated the risk of kidney stones. Plain radiography and MSCT imaging revealed a 5 cm x 3.5 cm staghorn stone in the left kidney. Percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) was performed in the supine position using the C-arm. A nephroscope was inserted through a small incision to visualize and extract the stone. Post-extraction, C-arm imaging assessed the kidney, and a nephrostomy tube was placed for drainage. Staghorn stones are large, branched stones that occupy much of the renal pelvis or calyces. The European Association of Urology (EAU) recommends PCNL as the first-line treatment for staghorn stones due to its high efficacy and low morbidity. PCNL, a minimally invasive approach, offers high stone-free rates, up to 95%, making it effective for stones over 20 mm. The patient's successful outcome highlights the efficacy of PCNL in managing staghorn stones, especially in areas with a high risk of kidney stones due to poor water quality. Early diagnosis and treatment avert severe complications such as recurrent infections and urosepsis.
