Abstract

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic autoimmune inflammatory disease with diverse clinical manifestations, variable disease progression, and prognosis. SLE is associated with genetic, hormonal, immunological, and environmental factors. Its prevalence in the general population ranges from twenty to one hundred fifty cases per one hundred thousand people. SLE is more commonly found in women, particularly those of reproductive age. Angioedema in SLE patients is a rare occurrence both regionally and globally. scale. This article reports the case of a 24-year-old woman who came to the Emergency Department of Ploso Hospital with complaints of reddish spots on the face area accompanied by swollen lips since 1 week before admission. The patient also complained of a rash on both palms, mouth ulcers on the lips, and hair loss. The patient is currently pregnant with a gestational age of 6 months. Complaints of rashes on the face and swollen lips have been experienced by the patient before. The results of physical examination and support showed that the patient was diagnosed with SLE. This article aims to add insight into cases of angioedema in SLE patients with pregnancy so that further research and development can be carried out.

Abstract

Metabolic syndrome is a health condition involving interrelated metabolic disorders, increasing the risk of cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. This condition involves central obesity, high triglyceride levels, low HDL cholesterol, hypertension, and high blood sugar levels. The increasing prevalence of metabolic syndrome in Indonesia is mainly caused by lifestyle changes, including unhealthy eating patterns and low physical activity. This research aims to identify causal factors and prevent metabolic syndrome. Literature studies were used to analyze the epidemiology, risk factors, and prevention strategies for metabolic syndrome. Prevention of this syndrome requires a comprehensive approach, including healthy lifestyle changes, such as a balanced diet, physical activity, and stress management. Modern technology and public policies that support healthy lifestyles can also strengthen these prevention efforts. With proper prevention, the risk of chronic diseases related to metabolic syndrome can be reduced, as well as improving people's quality of life.

Abstract

Medical assistive technology plays a crucial role in enhancing response and recovery efforts during disasters. This technology includes advanced tools and devices designed to support medical professionals in assessing, treating, and managing patients in high-pressure disaster situations. This paper will explore the medical assistive technology to enhance disaster management. This literature review was conducted via searching in databases such as PubMed, Science Direct, Google Scholar, and Scopus using keywords such as “technology for disaster management”; “pharmaceutical technology for disaster”; “health information”; “communication and technology”; and “disaster medicine technology, robotic, and IoT for healthcare”. The result showed that several tools and software were developed in many countries such as 3D printing for pharmaceuticals for medication printing, drone technology for delivering medical equipment, drugs, and blood, Emergency Medical Information Systems (EMIS), virtual reality (VR) for disaster medicine training, robotics, and innovative mobile applications like SaveMyLife, mental health applications, and rapid DNA technology for disaster victim identification. Using the Health System Resilience Framework, this study highlights how these technologies strengthen service delivery, workforce capacity, and information systems in emergencies. Despite their benefits, most innovations originate in high-income countries, raising challenges for equitable adoption. Future research should address scalability, local adaptation, and ethical considerations to enhance health system resilience in low-resource settings.
