Abstract

This study is based on the low interest in learning students, especially in mathematics, and the limited ability of students to understand flat shapes. The purpose of this study was to evaluate students' abilities before and after the implementation of puzzle learning media, and to identify the impact of using the media on students' understanding in grade 2 of Kepong Elementary School, Malaysia. The population and sample of the study consisted of 20 grade 2 students of Kepong Elementary School, Malaysia. Data collection was carried out through a test that included 10 questions. Data analysis included Validity Test, Reliability Test, and Hypothesis Test. The results of the Validity Test showed that 9 questions were valid, while 1 question did not meet the validity criteria with a coefficient value of 0.299. Meanwhile, the results of the Reliability Test showed that 9 valid questions had a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.798, which indicated a good level of reliability. Hypothesis Testing through paired sample tests produced a p value of 0.000, which was smaller than 0.05, so H1 was accepted. This shows that there is a significant influence from the use of puzzle-based learning media on increasing students' understanding of data shapes in class 2 of Kepong Elementary School, MalaysiaKeywords: Puzzle Media, Understanding, Flat Building

Abstract

This study examines gender differences in language use among EFL students from a sociolinguistic perspective. The research aims to explore how male and female students differ in their interaction patterns, politeness strategies, levels of formality, and the influence of social and cultural norms in English classroom communication. A descriptive quantitative research design was employed, using a questionnaire as the primary instrument to collect data from third-semester students of the English Language and English Education Study Programs. The data were analyzed by categorizing responses based on gender and conducting a comparative analysis to identify patterns of language use and sociolinguistic variation. The findings reveal that both male and female students actively participate in English classroom interactions; however, notable differences emerge in their communication styles. Male students tend to demonstrate higher confidence, more direct speech, and greater dominance in classroom discussions. In contrast, female students generally employ more indirect language, higher levels of politeness, and greater use of mitigating expressions to maintain social harmony. The results also indicate that students adjust their language use according to interlocutors and social context, particularly when interacting with lecturers versus peers. Furthermore, cultural values and social norms play a significant role in shaping students’ language choices and interaction strategies, sometimes exerting a stronger influence than gender alone. Overall, the study concludes that language use among EFL students is not solely determined by linguistic competence but is shaped by a complex interaction of gender, sociocultural norms, and contextual factors. These findings highlight the importance of integrating sociolinguistic awareness into EFL instruction to foster more inclusive and effective classroom communication.

Abstract

This study develops the AIAT-HRM Model as a conceptual framework for systematically integrating four core Islamic values (amanah (trustworthiness), ihsan (excellence), adil (justice), and tanggung jawab (responsibility)) into educator human resource management (HRM) in Islamic educational institutions. Existing HRM practices in these institutions remain fragmented and have not translated Islamic values into operational HRM mechanisms. Using a qualitative library research design and Jabareen’s (2009) conceptual analysis procedure, the study synthesizes normative-theological sources (the Qur’an and Hadith), scholarly literature on Islamic education management, and contemporary HRM frameworks. The findings demonstrate the model’s specific contributions: amanah transforms recruitment and selection through integrity-based screening; ihsan shapes professional development and performance appraisal through standards of excellence and reflective evaluation (muhasabah); adil informs proportional compensation and just appraisal; and tanggung jawab institutionalizes layered accountability across HR planning. The AIAT-HRM Model converts Islamic values from moral ideals into measurable HRM indicators, including transparent recruitment SOPs, 360-degree appraisal mechanisms, and syura-based planning protocols. Theoretically, this study advances value-based HRM by offering an integrative model that bridges Islamic ethics and functional HRM. Practically, it provides educational leaders with concrete steps to align recruitment, development, appraisal, and compensation with Islamic principles. Future research should empirically test the AIAT-HRM Model across pesantren, madrasah, and Islamic universities to assess its impact on educator performance and institutional effectiveness.
