Abstract

This study aims to analyze the curriculum management based on pesantren (Islamic boarding school) at Nurul Abror Al-Robbaniyin Islamic Boarding School in Alasbuluh and Bustanul Makmur Islamic Boarding School in Kebunrejo, Banyuwangi. The main focus is on how the integration between formal and diniyah (religious) education curricula is carried out, and the challenges that affect its effectiveness. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation studies. The results show that both pesantren have applied a curriculum integration model by synchronizing the time and content of national and religious education. However, several major obstacles were identified, including the absence of an integrated curriculum document, limited competent human resources, lack of coordination between educational units, students' excessive academic load, and the absence of standardized evaluation and monitoring systems. Moreover, the centralized leadership structure under the kyai (Islamic scholar) figure presents a challenge to implementing a modern, participatory management system. These findings highlight the importance of developing a more structured, collaborative, and adaptive curriculum management system to support the sustainable integration of pesantren and national education systems.
