Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement of student learning outcomes through the inquiry learning model with the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach in the IPAS subject on light and its properties in Grade V students of SD Inpres Oesapa. This research employed a descriptive quantitative and qualitative method with 26 students (13 males, 13 females) as the subjects. Data were collected through observation and tests. The results showed that in the first cycle only 6 students (23.07%) achieved mastery, while 20 students (76.92%) did not, due to lack of concentration, collaboration, and problem-solving ability. In the second cycle, there was a significant improvement, with 24 students (92.30%) achieving mastery. Students demonstrated activeness, concentration, engagement in learning, as well as collaboration and problem-solving skills. Only 2 students (7.69%) had not yet achieved mastery and were given enrichment by the teacher. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the implementation of the inquiry learning model with the TaRL approach can improve student learning outcomes in the IPAS subject, particularly on light and its properties. The TaRL approach helps students better understand the material, increase concentration, and enhance problem-solving abilities.
