<![CDATA[Ikan bawal air tawar termasuk salah satu komoditi yang potensial di bidang perikanan yang memiliki ekonomis yang cukup tinggi. Ikan bawal mudah dibudidayakan sehingga menarik minat para pembudidaya ikan di Kepulauan Sangihe. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui seksual primer dan sekunder ikan bawal jantan dan betina (Colossoma macropomum) di Pusat Budidaya Air Tawar Politeknik Negeri Nusa Utara. Prosedur kerja penelitian yaitu persiapan alat dan bahan, metode penangkapan, dan pengamatan bagian tubuh dari ikan bawal. Ikan bawal yang digunakan dalam penelitian mempunyai berat antara 0,300-1,5 kg. Hasil yang didapat sebanyak 7 ekor ikan bawal jantan dengan berat antara 0,385 sampai 1,685 kg. Sedangkan 3 ekor ikan bawal betina yaitu 0,590 sampai 1,550 kg. Ciri-ciri seksual primer ikan jantan yaitu pada bagian urogenitalnya jika di striping mengeluarkan cairan berwarna putih dan alat kelamin berbentuk lonjong. Sedangkan ciri sekunder yaitu bentuk tubuh lebih langsing dari ikan betina. Ciri-ciri primer pada ikan bawal betina yaitu pada bagian urogenitalnya, jika di striping mengeluarkan cairan berwarna kuning dan alat kelaminnya berbentuk oval. Sedangkan ciri-ciri sekundernya yaitu bentuk tubuh lebih bulat dan buncit. Freshwater pomfret is one of the potential commodities in the fisheries sector which has a fairly high economy. Pomfret fish is easy to cultivate, so they attract the interest of fish farmers in the Sangihe Islands. The aim of the study was to determine the primary & secondary sex of male female pomfret (Colossoma macropomum) at the Freshwater Cultivation Center of The State Polytechnic of Nusa Utara. The work procedures were the preparation of tools and materials, fishing methods, and observing the body parts of pomfret. The spomfret fish used in this research had a weight between 0.300 - 1.5 kg. The results obtained were 7 male pomfret weighing between 0.385 and 1.685 kg. While 3 female pomfret fish is 0.590 to 1.550 kg. The primary sexual characteristics of male fish are in the urogenital part when striped it emits white liquid and oval-shaped genitals. While the secondary characteristic is the body shape is slimmer than the female fish. The primary sexual characteristics of the female are the urogenital parts, when striped they secrete a yellow liquid and the genitals are oval in shape.
