Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keefektifan readathon terhadap minat baca pada siswa kelas 8 SMP Negeri 2 Sumber Cirebon. Penelitian ini termasuk dalam jenis penelitian kuantitatif. Desain Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif eksperimen. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas 8 SMP Negeri 2 Sumber Cirebon. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan menggunakan angket (pretest dan Posttest) dan wawancara. Teknik analisis data menggunakan Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) Versi 26. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa berdasarkan analisis deskriptif, diperoleh nilai rerata gainscore minat baca siswa pada kelompok eksperimen = 3.5938 dan pada kelompok kontrol = 2.7273. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut minat baca pada siswa yang mendapatkan kegiatan readathon lebih tinggi dibandingkan siswa yang tidak diberikan kegiatan readathon. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian kegiatan readathon berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap minat baca siswa kelas 8 SMP Negeri 2 Sumber Cirebon. Kebutuhan terhadap minat baca menjadi indikator dari variable minat baca, banyak siswa yang menganggap buku sebagai kebutuhan. Rasa senang terhadap bacaan menjadi indikator yang belum tercapai, banyak siswa yang belum memunculkan perasaan senang dalam membaca. Kegiatan readathon yang berjalan dengan baik akan menumbuhkan minat baca siswa. Hal ini berarti semakin berjalan keefektifan kegiatan readathon maka semakin bertambah pula minat baca. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of the readathon on reading interest in grade 8 students at SMP Negeri 2 Sumber. This research is included in the type of quantitative research. This research design uses quantitative experimental methods. The data source for this research is grade 8 students at SMP Negeri 2 Sumber. Data collection techniques used questionnaires (pretest and posttest) and interviews. Subject The data analysis technique used SPSS Version 26. The results of this study showed that based on descriptive analysis, the average gain score for students' reading interest in the experimental group = 3.5938 and in the control group = 2.7273. Based on these results, interest in reading among students who received readathon activities was higher than students who were not given readathon activities. Thus, it can be concluded that providing readathon activities has a significant effect on the reading interest of grade 8 students at SMP Negeri 2 Sumber. The need for interest in reading is an indicator of the variable interest in reading, many students consider books as a necessity. Meanwhile, enjoyment of reading is an indicator that has not been achieved, many students have not developed feelings of enjoyment in reading. Readathon activities that run well will foster students' interest in reading. This means that the more effective the readathon activities are, the more interest in reading will increase.
