Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the identification of children with special needs at Special Schools in Padang Panjang Timur District, Padang Panjang City based on behavior checklist-based pocket books. The background of this research is that there are still many Special Needs Schools in Padang Panjang Timur District, Padang Panjang City, which do not place students with special needs according to their needs. The researchmethod used is descriptive quantitative research method. The population in this study is Special Schools in Padang Panjang Timur District, Padang Panjang City with a total of 70 students. The sampling technique in thisstudy used a total sampling technique because the number of samples was relatively small, namely 70 samples. The data was obtained using a scale distribution technique (in the form of a pocket book based on a behaviorchecklist). The data analysis technique in this study was percentage descriptive analysis. The results of this study indicated that there was a discrepancy between the initial identification carried out by the teacher/school and identification using a behavior checklist-based pocket book. So from this study obtained data on mild mental retardation 44%, moderate mental retardation 13%, identified as autistic 19%, unidentified as autistic 10%, identified as ADHD 13% and not identified as ADHD as much as 1%.Keywords: Identification, ABK and SLB.

Abstract

Many teachers of special schools (SLB) experience stress whether they realize it or not. Teachers who are under pressure can experience discomfort which can lead to depression, lack of motivation and frustration. The stress experienced by teachers of special schools has a negative impact on teachers of special schools and children with special needs (ABK), both physically, mentally, emotionally and behaviorally. Therefore, this problem must be addressed so that it does not have a negative impact on special needs school teachers and children with special needs. The purpose of this study is to determine the process of stress management strategies in overcoming these problems. This descriptive qualitative research was conducted using data collection techniques in the form of literature review. This study shows that coping with stress is an effort that consists of changes in cognitive and attitude in managing and overcoming pressure from within the individual and from outside the individual. The stress management strategy for Special School teachers consists of problem-oriented and emotional coping. Overcoming focus is a stress management strategy can be influenced by some cultural background, experience in solving problems, environmental factors, personality, self-image and social factors. It is believed that this research will greatly assist Special School teachers to improve the quality of education and training for Children with Special Needs, and through stress management can make people aware of the problems they face and make them more careful in their actions and take ways to solve problems.

Abstract

Beragamnya tantangan dan permasalahan akademik yang dihadapi oleh mahasiswa yang menyebabkan mahasiswa harus mampu untuk melakukan penyesuaian diri dan mampu menyelesaikan masalah akademik dengan baik. Mahasiswa membutuhkan kecerdasan emosional yang akan membantu mahasiswa dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan akademiknya dengan baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan apakah terdapat hubungan atau korelasi antara kecerdasan emosional dengan academic buoyancy pada mahasiswa psikologi UIN Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar. Dalam penelitian ini, 146 mahasiswa psikologi menjadi sampel penelitian, yang diambil melalui teknik convenience sampling. Academic Buoyancy Scale (ABS), yang dikembangkan oleh Martin and Marsh, digunakan untuk mengukur variabel academic buoyancy, dan kemudian untuk mengukur kecerdasan emosional, menggunakan alat ukur Emotional Intelligence Scale (EIS) yang dikembangakn oleh Goleman. Teknik analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan bantuan aplikasi IBM SPSS 20, korelasi product moment. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kecerdasan emosional dan academic buoyancy pada mahasiswa Psikologi Islam UIN Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar, dengan nilai signifikansi 0,000 (pÔëñ0,05). Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa hipotesis penelitian diterima dengan nilai korelasi 0,774 dan berkorelasi secara ┬ápositif. Kecerdasan emosional sebanding dengan academic buoyancy dan sebaliknya.
