Abstract

Tafsir al-Misbah tercatat sebagai mahakarya pertama tafsir di Indonesia yang diterbitkan secara utuh 30 Juz. Al-misbah pertama kali diterbitkan pada tahun 2000 oleh penerbit lentera hati Jakarta. Penafsiran secara komprehensif merupakan ciri khas tafsir al-Misbah. Kemunculan tafsir al-Misbah dinilai sangat relevan dengan konteks saat ini. Hal ini menjadikan al-Misbah sebagai rujukan atas problematika yang ada. Kajian ini bertujuan mengungkap kekomprehensifitasan penafsiran M. Quraish Shihab dalam karyanya tafsir al-Misbah. Jenis kajian ini adalah kajian kepustakaan (library search) yaitu data kajian diperoleh dari berbagai literatur dengan metode analisis deskriptif. Hasil dari kajian ini menunjukan totalitas Quraish Shihab dalam menfsirkan al-Quran. Penyajian penafsiran dengan pemberian pengantar pada setiap awal surat, pengelompokan ayat atas keserasian penafsiran, pesan, kesan, serta penjelasan mendetail baik dari aspek tekstualitas, dan rasionalitas penafsiran. Kemudian kesesuaian dengan konteks ke Indonesiaan serta ragam sumber rujukan mulai dari suber berlainan madzhab, tokoh filososf, hingga tokoh orientalis. Hal ini menunjukan penafsiran Quraish Shihab dalam tafsir al-Misbah sangat komprehensif, tidak heran jika al-Misbah menjadi role model dan pusat rujukan hingga saat ini.

Abstract

The polemic of music and song law is again crowded on social media, starting from the translation of surat as-Syuara as a letter of poets who were identified with musicians by one of the preachers who eventually received various comments on social media. Departing from this problem, the author will reveal how Islma'il Raji al-Faruqi's views on music, a figure known for the idea of monotheistic art. This writing attempts to explain the expression of Islamic art offered by Ismail Raji al-Faruqi. This study focuses on monotheism as the main objective of the Islamic worldview. The method used in this writing uses library research. The type of data used by the author uses literature-based data, in the form of primary and secondary data. The approach used in this writing uses a thematic method. The formulation of the underlying problem of this writing is expected to answer the question of music polemic as an expression of Islamic art according to Ismail Raji al-Faruqi. The idea of monotheism is an expression of the objective, transcendent, mystical, and inexpressible values of beauty, as well as the idea of beauty that is subjective, expressive, and culturally comprehensible. Al-Faruqi's thinking shows that literary art, calligraphy, ornamentation, sound art, and room art cannot be separated from monotheism as a worldview in Islam.

Abstract

The discourse on polygamy in Muslim societies often stems from textual readings that overlook the socio-historical context of Qur’anic revelation. This article re-examines Q.S. an-Nis?’ [4]:3 through an interdisciplinary approach integrating tafsir studies, Paul Ricoeur’s hermeneutics, and Kurt Lewin’s field theory to analyze the psychosocial pathology within polygamous families. This qualitative library research draws upon primary sources such as Tafsir al-Mishbah, Ricoeur’s From Text to Action, and Lewin’s Field Theory in Social Science, supported by contemporary studies related to polygamy and family psychology. The findings indicate that Quraish Shihab interprets polygamy as a conditional allowance aimed at safeguarding justice and social welfare, rather than an encouraged marital model. Ricoeur’s hermeneutics demonstrates that the verse must undergo distanciation and recontextualization, shifting its meaning from legitimizing polygamy to emphasizing ethical responsibility toward vulnerable groups. Meanwhile, Lewin’s perspective shows that polygamous families tend to form a tension-filled relational field marked by emotional competition, instability, and fragmented interaction patterns. The study concludes that polygamy contains inherent theological, ethical, and psychosocial vulnerabilities, thus positioning it as an exceptional rather than normative marital structure. This interdisciplinary integration offers a holistic reading of the verse and contributes to contemporary Qur’anic studies by linking textual interpretation with psychosocial implications in modern family systems.
