Abstract

The fashion industry's rapid growth has intensified environmental pressure through non-degradable textile waste, driving the emergence of the Eco-fashion concept that reuses natural waste as raw material. Kelurahan Maesa UNIMA in South Tondano Subdistrict, North Sulawesi, produces abundant plant waste from horticulture and home yards, yet its utilisation remains limited to burning or composting. This study aims to identify types of plant waste, describe the process of producing accessories from plant waste with epoxy resin preservation, and evaluate the products' feasibility, durability, and aesthetics. The research applies a Research and Development (R&D) method, adapting the Borg and Gall model into six simplified stages: potential and problems, data collection, product design, design validation, design revision, and product trial. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and questionnaires, then analysed descriptively. Four fashion-design experts assessed product quality using eleven indicators, alongside twenty user respondents. The final quality assessment reached 0.936 (Very Good) from experts and 0.930 (Very Good) from users, while feasibility scored 0.90 (Very Feasible). These findings imply that plant waste can be transformed into Eco-fashion accessories of high aesthetic and economic value while supporting environmental sustainability and community-based creative economy.
