Abstract

The aim of this article is to examine the concept of social poverty at local context of two extreme geographically rural and urban areas. The logic of the article is structured as follows. Firstly is the identification social class at urban and rural contexts, in which social poverty is taking place. Then, it is followed by describing shortly the government programs on poverty alleviation, i.e. PNPM, Dana Desa, KAT and Health Insurance, in which trust in government could be built. Theoretical analysis are mainly referring to Weber, Bourdieu, and Putnam. Social capital formation is hindered mostly by closed system of social class in urban context, and by long unresolved isolation in rural context. The implementation of the government programs could be increasing trust in government. But on the other hand, social capital at rural context had declined in its capacity to solve their own problems. The bottom-up and top-down approach in the programs coordinated by the related ministries, gave more space to the poor for participation.

This study aims to examine the influence of socio-economic structure of family and social capital with the children’s learning achievement. The analytical tool used is logistic regression, because the dependent variable (Y) in this study is binary consisting of two (2) categories of 0 and 1. Result of research based on result of logistic analysis show that simultaneously show variable of social economic structure of family and social capital can explain variable of achievement learn equal to 30,6% while 69,4% other factor explain variable of learning achievement. The result of odds ratio test shows that students who have high socio-economic structure of family have opportunity to get high learning achievement equal to 1,942-16,981 times compare with student having low socioeconomic family structure. Students who have high family social capital have the opportunity to obtain high learning achievement of 2,239-38,846 times compared to students who have low family social capital.

Abstract

In the analysis of sociology of knowledge, the capacity of poor families during 2 year period of Covid-19 pandemic was resulted from social construction made by individual in her or his own way. The social construction around the Covid-19 issues, came into being as a new reality as part of our lives. Every body is confronted with a choice to accept a number of new knowledge dealing with Covid-19, and take action accordingly. The new knowledges were formal in character such as health standards of behavior, limitations of societal activities. Besides, there were also informal knowledges on traditional medicines for prevention and medication as well, which were believed to be of efficacy. If in conventional sociology of knowledge, culture is excluded from the core, in the new sociology of knowledge however, cultured is defined as formal knowledge which is under study of anthropology and informal knowledge used by people in everyday life. Theoretical and practical reflections taken from this knowledge development, are the needs to revise method of social interventions by using knowledge used in everyday life. Local knowledge is already known widely to the be used for program development and its implementation.

Abstract

This study tried to explain one of the poor farmers groups in Cigorondong Village Pandeglang who made a survival strategy by diversifying their livelihoods. There are two factors behind it, driving factor from place of origin and the pull factor from the destination. After farmers in Cigorondong, Pandeglang, made a strategy to survive by diversifying their livelihood into scavengers in Komplek BMKG Tangerang Selatan, there were several economic and social conditions that had changed. In the economic aspect there is an increase in income. On the social aspect, the changes that occur are the existence of an organic solidarity attitude, namely solidarity that grows based on the division of labor as happens in urban communities. However, they do not abandon their rural social behavior such as obeying norms, mutual cooperation etc.
