<![CDATA[Kain tapis merupakan warisan budaya paling prestigius masyarakat Lampung yang memiliki signifikansi mendalam melampaui fungsi tekstil konvensional. Penelitian kualitatif dengan metode etnografis ini mengeksplorasi kompleksitas kain tapis sebagai medium komunikasi budaya yang hidup dan dinamis, dengan fokus penelitian di wilayah Pesawaran, Provinsi Lampung. Studi mendalam mengungkapkan bahwa setiap motif, warna, dan teknik pembuatan kain tapis mengandung narasi filosofis yang kaya akan makna. Kain tapis tidak sekadar produk kerajinan, melainkan representasi identitas kultural, struktur sosial, dan nilai-nilai fundamental masyarakat Lampung. Proses pembuatannya, yang mayoritas dilakukan oleh perempuan, mencerminkan filosofi "Piil Pesenggiri" yang menjunjung tinggi harga diri dan keteguhan tradisi.Penelitian ini mengidentifikasi peran penting kain tapis dalam upacara adat, ritual sosial, dan komunikasi status kultural. Meskipun menghadapi tantangan globalisasi, upaya pelestarian terus dilakukan melalui inovasi desain, edukasi, dan pengembangan ekonomi kreatif. Artikel ini menegaskan bahwa kain tapis adalah teks budaya kompleks yang memerlukan apresiasi berkelanjutan untuk mempertahankan warisan adiluhung bagi generasi mendatang. Tapis cloth is the most prestigious cultural heritage of the Lampung people that has profound significance beyond the function of conventional textiles. This qualitative research using ethnographic methods explores the complexity of tapis cloth as a living and dynamic medium of cultural communication, with the focus of the research in the Pesawaran area, Lampung Province. An in-depth study reveals that each motif, color, and technique of making tapis cloth contains a philosophical narrative that is rich in meaning. Tapis cloth is not just a craft product, but a representation of cultural identity, social structure, and fundamental values of the Lampung people. The manufacturing process, which is mostly carried out by women, reflects the philosophy of "Piil Pesenggiri" which upholds self-esteem and the steadfastness of tradition.This study identifies the important role of tapis cloth in traditional ceremonies, social rituals, and communication of cultural status. Despite facing the challenges of globalization, preservation efforts continue to be carried out through design innovation, education, and the development of the creative economy. This article emphasizes that tapis cloth is a complex cultural text that requires continuous appreciation to maintain a noble heritage for future generations.]]>
