Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of safety culture on the level of compliance with the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on employees of PT Bukit Asam Kertapati Port. Safety culture is measured through three main dimensions: Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Safety Behavior, and Work Discipline. While the level of compliance with the use of PPE is analyzed through four dimensions: Intensity, Technical Compliance, Self-Compliance, and Compliance Stability. This research uses a quantitative approach with a descriptive and correlational design. Data were obtained through distributing online questionnaires to 22 respondents and analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Spearman correlation test. The results showed that the average scores of all dimensions of safety culture and PPE compliance were above 4.5 on the Likert scale, indicating a high level of perception. The correlation test showed a positive and significant relationship between safety culture and the level of PPE compliance with a coefficient value of ρ = 0.815 and a p-value <0.05. The conclusion of this study is that a good safety culture can significantly increase compliance with the use of PPE, so it is important to strengthen it as a strategy for preventing occupational accidents in high-risk industrial environments such as coal docks
