Abstract

The low awareness of students towards civic values, such as nationalism, love of the country, and social concern, is a worrying phenomenon in today's education world, especially at the secondary education level. The lack of student involvement in national-themed activities and the lack of understanding of national songs indicate the need for learning strategies that can instill these values effectively. This study aims to improve the dimensions of the civic graduate profile through the use of national songs in arts and culture learning. The method used is the Classroom Action Research (CAR) model of Kemmis & McTaggart, which is carried out in two cycles with stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects of the study were grade XI students at a high school. Data collection techniques include observation, Likert scale questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study showed that there was a significant increase in the civic aspect of students after the implementation of national songbased learning. The average score of the civic questionnaire increased from 3.12 in the preaction to 4.21 in the post-action. In addition, observations show an increase in students' active involvement in learning, as well as the growth of reflective awareness of the meaning of national songs. This study proves that national songs are not only an expression of art, but also an effective educational medium in instilling national character values. The benefits of this study are to provide an alternative learning approach that is contextual, meaningful, and able to support the strengthening of the Pancasila Student Profile, especially in the citizenship dimension.

Abstract

The rapid transformation of digital education encourages secondary schools to adjust learning patterns to the demands of the 21st century. However, many principals experience confusion in changing traditional leadership practices into adaptive, inspiring, and transformative leadership styles amidst the flow of digitalization. This study aims to examine in depth the experiences of principals and teachers in implementing a transformative leadership model in the context of digital education in Senior High Schools. The research approach used is qualitative with a phenomenological method, which focuses on the subjective meaning and direct experiences of informants. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observations, and documentation studies, then analyzed using thematic techniques through a manual coding process and interpretation of the meaning of experience. The results of the study indicate that transformative leadership practices emerge from a collective awareness of the importance of digital vision, an internal drive to empower teachers through technology, and a commitment to building an innovative and collaborative culture. The experiences of informants show that leadership that is value- based, reflective, and open to change plays a key role in improving students' 21st century skills. This study provides in-depth insights for school leaders and policy makers to design a more meaningful leadership approach that is oriented towards educational transformation in the era of technological disruption.

Abstract

Recent phenomena indicate a decline in students’ interest in appreciating cultural arts, particularly through national songs, due to the dominance of foreign popular culture and the lack of learning innovation in schools. This situation reduces the internalization of national values and weakens student engagement in cultural arts education. This study aims to analyze the application of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) in cultural arts subjects by employing national songs as a learning medium. A descriptive qualitative design was used with one cultural arts teacher and 32 grade XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Colomadu as research participants. Data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, then analyzed using a thematic approach to identify patterns, relevance, and effectiveness. The findings reveal that CTL based on national songs successfully increases students’ learning motivation, strengthens their emotional connection with the material, and fosters awareness of national values. Teachers also reported greater creativity in designing meaningful and contextual strategies. The study concludes that integrating CTL with national songs not only improves cultural arts learning but also revitalizes students’ character building and national identity. The contribution of this research lies in enriching the theoretical discourse on CTL integration in cultural arts and offering a practical model that addresses the challenges of globalization while strengthening love for the homeland.
