Abstract

This community service program was designed to enhance the achievement of the National Science Olympiad in Mathematics through collaboration between teachers and students in Malang Regency. The background of this program lies in the limited availability of structured coaching, insufficient intensive mentoring by teachers, and the lack of competition simulations that hinder students’ academic readiness and mental resilience. The objective was to strengthen teacher competence and prepare students more effectively for the demands of Olympiad-level competitions. The program was implemented through seminars for teachers, intensive classes for students, collaborative discussion forums, competition simulations, and continuous evaluation using statistical-based monitoring. The results showed that teachers developed stronger skills in designing innovative and systematic coaching strategies, while students demonstrated improved readiness in facing challenging problems and competition pressure. The program also fostered a collaborative and participatory learning ecosystem that supports sustainable academic development. In conclusion, this initiative contributed to improving the quality of mathematics education in Malang Regency and provided a replicable model for Olympiad coaching in other schools and regions.

Abstract

This community service program aims to improve achievement in the National Science Olympiad (OSN) Mathematics through collaborative engagement between teachers and students in Malang Regency. The primary challenges identified include the lack of structured training programs, limited intensive mentoring by teachers, and insufficient competition simulations, which negatively affect students’ academic preparedness and psychological readiness. To address these issues, the program was implemented using integrated methods, including teacher workshops, intensive classes for students, collaborative discussion forums, competition simulations, and evaluation and monitoring based on statistical testing. The implementation emphasized strengthening teachers’ roles as active mentors while empowering students through targeted exercises aligned with authentic OSN competition contexts. Teachers were trained to design innovative mentoring strategies, develop problem-solving frameworks, and provide systematic feedback. Meanwhile, students participated in intensive training sessions and simulated competitions to enhance conceptual understanding and resilience under competitive pressure. The results demonstrate improved teacher competencies in developing effective coaching strategies, as well as increased readiness among junior and senior high school students in solving complex mathematical problems and managing competition-related stress. Beyond individual skill enhancement, the program fostered a collaborative, participatory, and sustainable learning ecosystem. Furthermore, this initiative contributes to improving mathematics education quality in Malang Regency by offering a structured coaching model that can be replicated in other schools and regions.

Abstract

This quantitative study investigates the causal determinants of childhood stunting using a structured questionnaire as the primary research instrument. The analysis applies Bayesian path modeling to examine how Economic Level influences Child Nutritional Status both directly and indirectly through Children’s Diet. Bayesian estimation is used to obtain stable and reliable parameter values, with convergence checks ensuring model adequacy. The overly technical explanations of MCMC procedures and specific sampling algorithms from the original version are condensed to maintain clarity in an abstract. The results show that Children’s Diet plays a strong mediating role, indicating that economic improvements contribute more substantially to better nutritional outcomes when dietary practices are strengthened. These findings highlight clear policy implications, particularly the need to integrate dietary interventions with economic support programs. Overall, the study demonstrates that Bayesian path analysis provides a rigorous yet flexible approach for evaluating interconnected determinants of child nutrition and contributes evidence-based insights for stunting reduction strategies.
