Abstract

This study analyzes the role of Qur'anic hermeneutics (Fazlur Rahman, Nasr Hamid Abu Zayd, Abdullah Saeed) in thematic interpretation to address the contemporary issue of mental health in the digital era. This qualitative research aims to provide a systematic explanation of the obtained facts. The collected data is library-based (Library Research), involving a critical and in-depth study of relevant literature from both primary sources (the Qur'an, exegesis books) and secondary sources (books, journals, articles, websites). The research analyzes verses about tranquility, patience, prayer, and supplication. The results indicate that the universal principles in these verses can be contextualized to build mental resilience against challenges like social comparison, FOMO, and cyberbullying in digital spaces. Using Fazlur Rahman's double movement, it is concluded that internal sources of calm are crucial and that validation should shift from external to internal (God). Through Abu Zayd's humanistic hermeneutics, these verses form a critical-progressive framework for mental health. Abdullah Saeed's contextual approach allows reading them as a value foundation for a healthy relationship with technology, offering a spiritual-psychological framework to build digital resilience, inner validation, and sacred pause. A comparison of the three scholars' hermeneutical applications shows complementary conclusions about building a psychological anchor, critiquing digital culture, and shifting the source of self-worth.

Abstract

Abortion is a contemporary bioethical issue that continues to spark debate as medical technology advances and society changes. In Islamic jurisprudence, the practice of abortion is not explicitly discussed in the Qur'an, but its normative principles can be traced through verses prohibiting murder and maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah, particularly the preservation of life (ḥifẓ al-nafs). This article aims to analyze the legal construction of abortion from the perspective of aḥkām interpretation and examine its relevance to the contemporary bioethical framework. This study uses qualitative methods with content analysis techniques and an aḥkām interpretation approach to Qur'anic verses related to the protection of life and offspring, supported by hadith and fiqh literature. The results show that from the perspective of aḥkām interpretation, abortion is basically considered a prohibited act because it eliminates the potential for human life. However, in emergency conditions that threaten the mother's life, abortion can be permitted based on the fiqh principle of akhaffu ad-dhararain and the principle of maqāṣid al-syarī‘ah. The relevance of aḥkām interpretation to bioethics lies in the assertion that individual autonomy is not absolute, but is limited by moral responsibility and the protection of life. This study emphasizes that the integration of aḥkām interpretation and Islamic bioethics is important as an ethical basis for responding comprehensively to contemporary abortion practices. Abstrak Aborsi merupakan persoalan bioetika kontemporer yang terus memunculkan perdebatan seiring dengan perkembangan teknologi medis dan perubahan sosial. Dalam khazanah Islam, praktik aborsi tidak dibahas secara eksplisit dalam Al-Qur’an, namun prinsip-prinsip normatifnya dapat ditelusuri melalui ayat-ayat larangan pembunuhan dan maqāṣid al-syarī‘ah, khususnya pemeliharaan jiwa (ḥifẓ al-nafs). Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis konstruksi hukum aborsi dalam perspektif tafsir aḥkām serta menelaah relevansinya dengan kerangka bioetika kontemporer. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan teknik content analysis dan pendekatan tafsir aḥkām terhadap ayat-ayat Al-Qur’an yang berkaitan dengan perlindungan jiwa dan keturunan, didukung oleh hadis dan literatur fikih. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam perspektif tafsir aḥkām, aborsi pada dasarnya dipandang sebagai tindakan terlarang karena menghilangkan potensi kehidupan manusia. Namun, dalam kondisi darurat yang mengancam nyawa ibu, aborsi dapat dibolehkan berdasarkan kaidah fikih akhaffu ad-dhararain dan prinsip maqāṣid al-syarī‘ah. Relevansi tafsir aḥkām dengan bioetika terletak pada penegasan bahwa otonomi individu tidak bersifat absolut, melainkan dibatasi oleh tanggung jawab moral dan perlindungan terhadap kehidupan. Kajian ini menegaskan bahwa integrasi tafsir aḥkām dan bioetika Islam penting sebagai landasan etis dalam merespons praktik aborsi kontemporer secara komprehensif.
