Abstract

The United Nations (UN) aims to uphold international peace and security. The Security Council (SC), the UN's principal body, is tasked with upholding peace and security stability, taking appropriate measures, and mediating disputes following the UN Charter's provisions. As a member of the UN mission, Sierra Leone is dedicated to preserving international peace. Sierra Leone refers to the UN Charter, the 1945 Constitution that granted veto power to the P5, and requests that two African countries be granted permanent membership with the same veto power. This research used qualitative methods with interpretive content analysis to analyze secondary data from official reports, journals, mass media, etc., using the interactive model and NVivo 12 Plus software to examine the dynamics of Sierra Leone's Security Council membership in dealing with global issues. The results prove that Sierra Leone's policies have sought to fight against the neocolonial structure of the UN Security Council’s membership.
