Abstract

Communication is the process of exchanging meaning that shapes thoughts, attitudes, and human relationships. In the political realm, communication plays a strategic role in building image, conveying messages, and gaining public support in contests for power. Elections, as a democratic mechanism, make political communication a primary instrument in mobilizing voters and establishing leadership legitimacy. The objectives of this study are: 1) Political communication strategies used to maintain the image of leaders and strengthen institutions, 2) Role of communication strategies in creating unity among winning teams, volunteers, and supporting parties, and 3) Communication strategies are implemented to build political consensus and unite the strengths of key actors in supporting victory. This study uses qualitative with a descriptive approach. The findings of this study are: 1) Candidate pairs implemented a systematic, data-driven communication strategy to build an authentic and relevant image of their leaders. Institutional strengthening through a solid team structure and the support of the supporting parties ensured consistent campaign messages were delivered, thereby strengthening the candidate pairs' social legitimacy, 2) Communication strategy implemented successfully built solidarity and togetherness among various supporting elements. 3) Communication strategy was used effectively to build political consensus among parties, local figures, and communities. Implications findings indicate that the candidate pairs' systematic, data driven communication strategy strengthened their image of their leaders, built supporter solidarity, and created political consensus among parties, local figures, and communities.
