Abstract

This research aims to determine the dynamics of the Striped Eel-Catfish (Plotosus canius) population, which includes length frequency distribution, length and weight relationship, growth rate, mortality rate, and exploitation rate. This research was conducted in February"“May at TPI Jungkat, Mempawah Regency. The number of samples used was 354 fish with a length range of 15"“77 cm. The research results showed that the thornfish (Arius maculatus) caught consisted of nine different size classes and belonged to the adult fish age group. The relationship between length and weight of spiny fish is negative allometric, with an asymptote length (L∞) value of 65.63 cm and a growth rate coefficient of 0.94 per year. Total mortality rate (Z): 2.65 per year; natural mortality (M): 1.33 per year; fishing mortality (F): 1.32 per year; and exploitation rate (E): 0.5 per year.
