Abstract

Kata Kunci: Biologi reproduksi, Scatophagus argus, Muara Sungai Duri Abstract A concise and factual abstract is required. Each paper should be provided with an abstract of about The Duri River estuary is one of Indonesia's estuarine ecosystems with fluctuating physical and chemical characteristics. These conditions affect the reproductive biology of various organisms, including the kiper fish, which is a source of nutrition for the local community. The objective of this study is to investigate the reproductive biology of the kiper fish, including sex ratio, gonadal maturity level, gonadal maturity index, hepatosomatic index, and fecundity. The research was conducted over two months from February to March 2025. Fish sampling was conducted using purposive sampling based on the habitat of the kiper fish. A total of 87 fish were observed during the study, comprising 28 males and 59 females, with a sex ratio of 1:2. The gonadal maturity stage (GMS) obtained for both males and females was GMS I-V. The Gonadal Maturity Index (GMI) values for male fish ranged from 0.16"“5.81%, which was lower compared to the GMI values for female fish, which ranged from 0.16"“14.5%. The total fecundity of kiper fish was calculated to range from 9,030"“73,203 eggs. Relative fecundity per total length of the fish ranged from 117 to 1,018 eggs, while relative fecundity per total weight of the fish ranged from 8,089 to 17,448 eggs.
