Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has significantly influenced various aspects of daily life, including early childhood education. With the increasing use of gadgets such as smartphones, tablets, and computers, these devices have become integral to many families' routines. While controlled use of gadgets has been found to enhance cognitive, language, and motor skills in young children, the potential risks associated with excessive screen time cannot be overlooked. Studies have shown that prolonged exposure to screens can negatively impact social development, sleep patterns, and physical health. Furthermore, children who engage in unsupervised gadget use are at risk of encountering inappropriate content, which may hinder their understanding of appropriate social and emotional behavior. This literature review explores both the benefits and risks of gadget use among early childhood learners. It examines the role of gadgets in supporting educational outcomes and highlights the potential harms, emphasizing the importance of balanced and supervised screen time. The review also discusses the need for clear guidelines and parental involvement in managing screen time. The findings of this study aim to provide evidence-based recommendations for parents, educators, and policymakers to ensure that digital tools are used effectively and responsibly in early childhood education, fostering a healthy developmental environment for children.
