Abstract

This journal article aims to explore the Christian doctrine of salvation (Soteriology) systematically, focusing on its meaning, humanity's need for it, its realization through Christ's work, and its contemporary application. The research problem centers on the fundamental human condition of sin, which severs the relationship with God and necessitates divine intervention for redemption. Employing a qualitative literature research method with a theological systematic approach, this study analyzes biblical texts and theological works from scholars such as Jonar T.H. Situmorang, Louis Berkhof, and others. The findings confirm that salvation is solely God's grace, granted through faith in Jesus Christ, not human effort. It is actualized through Christ's incarnation, sinless life, atoning death, resurrection, and ascension, comprehensively addressed in the Ordo Salutis. The study concludes that Soteriology is not merely a theoretical concept but has profound practical relevance, calling believers to a life of continual repentance, faith, and holiness, enabling them to be agents of reconciliation in a conflicted modern world. The implications of this study underscore the necessity of grounding Christian life and witness in the definitive and complete work of Christ.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the understanding of Christological doctrine regarding the unity of Christ's divinity and humanity in the event of His birth, examine the relationship between incarnation and salvation, and understand its practical implications as a model of faith, hope, and service. This research uses a qualitative approach by reviewing literature from five book sources and five online journals. The results show that Christological doctrine explains the unity of divinity and humanity through the concept of incarnation established by the church councils. The birth of Christ through the Virgin Mary proves His humanity, while conception through the Holy Spirit demonstrates His divinity. Incarnation has an integral relationship with salvation; without it, the work of redemption cannot be accomplished because a perfect Mediator with both divine and human nature is required. Furthermore, the birth of Jesus provides an example of humility that serves as the foundation for the faith, hope, and service of Christians today. This research concludes that the event of Christ's birth is not merely historical but a fundamental theological foundation for the Christian faith, with relevant implications for the life and ministry of believers.
