Abstract

Behavioral problems of elementary school students, such as low discipline, conflicts between friends, and difficulty controlling emotions, are challenges that can hinder the achievement of learning objectives and character building. Schools as formal educational institutions have a strategic role in overcoming these problems through the provision of appropriate counseling guidance services. This community service activity aims to describe the role of schools in overcoming children's behavior problems through culture based group guidance at SDN Gunungsari, Tangerang Regency, in 2024. The implementation method consists of preparation, planning, implementation, evaluation, and follow-up stages. The subjects were 25 students in grades IV and V who were selected based on the results of classroom teacher observations and behavior checklist instruments. The intervention was conducted through six group guidance sessions using the traditional game congklak and reflective discussions based on local cultural values. The results showed a significant decrease in problem behavior, especially in the aspects of discipline, cooperation skills, and emotional control. Classroom teachers acted as facilitators and counselors who accompanied students throughout the process, and provided positive value reinforcement in daily interactions. In conclusion, culture-based group guidance is effective in helping schools shape students' positive behavior while instilling local wisdom values.

Abstract

Bullying in elementary school environments remains a significant issue that can hinder students’ character development, mental health, and social interactions. Initial observations and interviews with school representatives revealed that many students at SDN 01 Kemiri and SDN 02 Kemiri had not yet fully understood the various forms of bullying and their impacts on victims and the school environment. Therefore, this community service program aimed to enhance students’ understanding and awareness of bullying prevention through an empathy-based educational approach. The program was implemented at SDN 01 Kemiri and SDN 02 Kemiri through several stages, including problem identification, coordination with school authorities, preparation of educational materials, interactive socialization sessions, group discussions, question-and-answer activities, and program evaluation. The materials covered the definition of bullying, its various forms, the consequences of bullying, and strategies for prevention and reporting bullying incidents. The results indicated that students developed a better understanding of bullying behavior, were able to identify common forms of bullying occurring in the school environment, and demonstrated increased awareness of the importance of mutual respect in creating a safe learning atmosphere. Furthermore, the program fostered a shared commitment among students and school stakeholders to support the development of a child-friendly and bullying-free school culture. This empathy-based anti-bullying socialization program can serve as an effective preventive strategy for strengthening character education in elementary schools.

Abstract

This student service and knowledge activity of the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training aims to describe the role of Student Teacher Strategy in Facing Student Problems at National Plus Hanjuang Junior High School. The theory used in this study is interview theory, which allows researchers to dig deeper into information through direct communication with related parties. This study aims to identify and analyze the strategies of student teachers in dealing with the problems of students at SMP National Plus Hanjuang. Students' problems often include academic, disciplinary, and psychosocial aspects that affect the learning process and the development of their character. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data was obtained through observation, in-depth interviews with student teachers and documentation related to school policies and programs. The results of the study showed that student teachers at SMP National Plus Hanjuang applied various strategies, such as individual coaching, a personal approach to students and parents, and the implementation of counseling guidance programs tailored to student needs. In addition, collaboration with external parties, such as psychologists and educational institutions, is also carried out to overcome more complex problems. The main challenges faced include limited resources, lack of support from parents, and high diversity of student problems. The conclusion of this study confirms that the role of student teachers is very vital in creating a school environment that supports the learning process. An effective strategy requires a holistic approach that involves students, teachers, and parents. This study recommends the development of a more structured model of strategies to address student problems at the junior high school level as a follow-up research agenda.
