Abstract

Introduction: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease in the form of a metabolic disorder characterized by blood sugar that exceeds normal limits. DM can cause various complications, and the most common is peripheral neuropathy. Management of type 2 DM sufferers includes supporting treatment. Purpose: This case study aims to determine the effect of foot exercise on foot sensitivity and blood sugar levels. Methods: The given implementation is based on Evidence-Based Nursing (EBN) and foot exercises are nursing interventions that can be used. Foot exercise intervention is carried out for 15-20 minutes once a day. Foot sensitivity was measured using monofilament based on Northern Devon Healthcare (2014) and blood glucose levels using Easy Touch GCU. Results were evaluated by monitoring foot sensitivity and blood sugar levels measured before and after the procedure for 6 consecutive days. Conclusion: There was a change in sensitivity and blood sugar levels after the foot exercise intervention was given.

Abstract

Introduction: Hypertension is a disease of the cardiovascular system with a prevalence that continues to increase rapidly, especially in several developing countries including Indonesia. The incidence of hypertension tends to be high in the elderly as a degenerative effect that occurs with age. The main cause of uncontrolled hypertension in the elderly is that elderly people with hypertension refuse to undergo treatment, so the blood pressure in their body becomes uncontrollable. This is because elderly people cannot tolerate the side effects experienced after taking blood pressure medication. Therefore, it is necessary to introduce another alternative therapy to treat hypertension in the elderly, namely by consuming dark chocolate. Purpose: Knowing the effect of eating dark chocolate to reduce blood pressure in elderly people with hypertension. Methods: Case study by applying implementation according to evidencebased practice in nursing care. In the intervention session, respondents will be asked to consume 72% dark chocolate as much as 30 grams for 7 consecutive days. The tool used to measure blood pressure is an automatic Sphygmomanometer. Keywords used: dark chocolate, hypertension, and elderly. Discussion: Dark chocolate contains flavonoids that are thought to increase endothelial nitric oxide, improve the elasticity of blood vessels and blood circulation. The benefits of flavonoids can also lower blood pressure in elderly people suffering from high blood pressure. Conclusion: There is an effect of giving dark chocolate on lowering blood pressure in elderly people with hypertension based on the results of blood pressure measurements before and after the intervention during the intervention period. the results of blood pressure measurements before and after giving the intervention for 7 days.

The anxiety experienced by the elderly can worsen their health condition and can also reduce their quality of life. For this reason, intervention is needed to reduce anxiety, namely by providing a combination of warm water foot soak therapy with red ginger and benson therapy. Objective: This case study aims to determine the effect of giving a combination of warm water foot soak therapy with red ginger and benson therapy on anxiety in hypertensive elderly . Method: This research is a case study by implementing interventions according to EBN. The intervention carried out was a combination of warm water foot soak therapy with red ginger and benson therapy which was carried out for 10 minutes for 7 days. The research subject was 1 person. The subject is hypertensive elderly with anxiety nursing problems. Results: After intervention for 7 days, the post-test results for anxiety levels using the HARS (Hamilton Rating Scale for Anxiety) instrument showed a score of 8 (no anxiety). This score decreased when compared with the results of the pre-test anxiety level which received a score of 19 (mild anxiety), which means the client's anxiety decreased from mild anxiety to no anxiety. Conclusion: Providing a combination intervention of warm water foot soak therapy with red ginger and benson therapy for 7 days can reduce anxiety levels in hypertensive elderly.

Abstract

Introduction: Good sleep is an important need for infant growth, because during sleep the baby's brain growth reaches its peak. Babies who do not get enough sleep will have their immune system lowered so that they are susceptible to disease. In addition, growth hormones will be disrupted, so that the baby's growth will also be disrupted. Efforts that can be used to meet the need for sleep in infants have developed, one of which is by combining baby massage with lullaby music therapy. Purpose: This study aims to determine the effect of the combination of infant massage and music therapy on the quality of sleep on infants. Methods: The writing of this scientific paper uses a case study method. This case study uses a nursing process approach on 3 healthy infant clients aged 0-12 months but have mild sleep problems. Discussion: The results of the study showed that after the intervention, the infant became more active during the day, looked more restful to sleep, the baby was easier to sleep and the baby cried but not as long as before. All mothers admitted that there was a change in their child's sleep pattern. After the combination of infant massage and lullaby music therapy, it was found that all infants experienced an increase in sleep quality to no problems. Conclusion: The combination of baby massage and lullaby music therapy has an effect on improving the quality of infant sleep.
