Abstract

This research develops a data-driven approach to improve overburden operational performance at PT Bukit Asam Tbk by utilizing Monte Carlo simulation as the primary analytical tool. Simulation results identified two main operational constraints. First, although the Matching Factor between loading and hauling equipment was balanced, the total fleet capacity was insufficient to achieve production targets. Second, poor synchronization (evidenced by high occurrences of “Wait Hauler” and “No Hauler” standby time) contributed to low Use of Availability (UA) and Equipment Utilization (EU), which reduces Effective Working Hours (EWH). First is to give addition to the fleet setting in East Pit 3, and second is to implement a real-time Mine Traffic Control (MTC) system. The proposed solutions were tested through simulation. Results showed that equipment addition could increase production by up to 26.8% and improve productivity by 1.76%. Meanwhile, the MTC system was projected to reduce controllable standby by 10.44%, increase EWH by 4.77%, and raise production under stable productivity conditions to 4.77%. Overall, the use of simulation and data-driven strategies proves effective in identifying root causes, designing measurable interventions, and validating their impact on productivity. Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the key operational variables that impact productivity in PT BORNEO and identify optimal targets to improve productivity. A mixed methodology of qualitative and quantitative approaches, supported by process observation, was used to collect data. The study primarily uses existing quantitative data, but interviews may be conducted to capture constraints in the implementation plan process. GPS data also collected via an API to obtain information about truck movements, which can be divided into various activities to identify cycle time and analyze system performance. The study found that reducing loading time and minimizing random stoppages can significantly improve productivity, with average loading time being the most important factor. Stoppage before rest time and stoppage in loaded condition and at major prayer time had little impact on overall productivity. Future research could investigate the impact of other variables such as equipment maintenance and driver training on productivity.

Abstract

Fuel distribution in Indonesia faces significant challenges due to high transportation costs, particularly for land-based deliveries in high-volume urban corridors. This study aims to identify inefficiencies in fuel distribution operations and develop optimized routing strategies for a major energy company operating between Jakarta Integrated Terminal and Tanjung Gerem Fuel Terminal. A mixed-method approach was employed, combining Root Cause Analysis to pinpoint cost drivers and Vehicle Routing Problem models to optimize delivery routes. Data were collected through interviews, on-site observations, and internal company records from January 2025. The findings reveal that truck transportation dominates operational expenses, driven by excessive travel distances. The optimized Vehicle Routing Problem model, using multi-supply point strategies and linear programming, significantly reduces travel distances and operational costs while improving truck utilization. This study concludes that data-driven route optimization enhances cost efficiency and supports environmental sustainability by lowering fuel consumption. However, the model’s reliance on static demand assumptions limits its adaptability to real-time variations. Future research should explore dynamic routing models incorporating real-time traffic and demand data to enhance robustness. These findings offer a scalable framework for improving fuel distribution efficiency across other terminals, contributing to cost savings and sustainable logistics practices.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze the service quality of SS Umroh Travel and its impact on customer satisfaction by applying the SERVQUAL model, extended with the CARTER framework. Research methodology: Using a quantitative approach and survey method, data were collected from 240 respondents who used SS Umroh services. Results: Negative gaps were found in all service quality dimensions, with assurance showing the largest gap, followed by Reliability and Tangibility. The regression results indicated that empathy significantly influenced customer satisfaction, whereas strict compliance had a negative effect. Three priority areas for improvement were identified: Assurance, Empathy, and Tangibility. Recommended strategies include staff training, SOP development, improved accessibility, and monitoring systems, supported by the Plan–Do–Check–Act (PDCA) cycle for continuous quality improvement. Conclusion: SS Umroh Travel has a basic service system, but negative gaps indicate unmet customer expectations. Assurance and Empathy are critical to building trust and satisfaction, making their improvement vital for competitiveness. Limitations: The study is limited to one company, relies on self-reported surveys, and lacks longitudinal data, which reduces generalizability. Contribution: This study theoretically integrates SERVQUAL and CARTER in religious tourism service evaluation. Practically, it offers strategic recommendations for SS Umroh and similar operators to enhance their service quality and customer satisfaction.
