Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the weaknesses of the curriculum and design a multicultural curriculum model that can be applied in public secondary schools. Based on multicultural curriculum theory and educational philosophy from perenialism to reconstructivism, as well as the principles of the Independent Curriculum, the research uses an interpretive paradigm and a qualitative approach through literature studies. Secondary data were analyzed qualitatively descriptively. The results of the study resulted in a multicultural curriculum model that integrates all Arabic language skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing) with flexibility and contextual relevance, and accommodates cultural diversity without neglecting the core values of Arabic language learning. The contribution of this research enriches the theory of Arabic curriculum with the integration of multicultural approaches and philosophical analysis. His findings provide practical recommendations for curriculum developers and teachers to create learning that is inclusive, relevant, and serves as a tool for linguistic mastery as well as a medium for promoting intercultural understanding and diversity values.

Abstract

This study examines community-led efforts to preserve the Khatam Al-Qur’an Friday Legi tradition at the Sabilil Mustaqim Mosque, Dadaprejo, aimed at strengthening Islamic brotherhood (ukhuwah islamiyah) and local wisdom. Key challenges included undocumented ritual processes, declining youth participation, and the absence of a structured management system. Using a participatory action approach, the intervention involved regular mentoring, management training for the mothers’ group, and the introduction of a berkah savings system to sustain food alms. The intervention yielded measurable outcomes: community participation increased by 150% (from 10 to 25 regular attendees); a fully documented ritual guidebook (covering Qur’an juz distribution, prayer sequences, and berkat tradition) was produced; and social cohesion indicators such as frequency of mutual cooperation (gotong royong) and intergenerational interaction showed significant improvement. Additionally, younger generations demonstrated heightened awareness of local wisdom, the women’s study group (Majelis Ta’lim Nisa Kamila) achieved enhanced organizational capacity, and a sustainable documentation system was established. These findings confirm that community-led preservation efforts can effectively integrate Islamic worship with Javanese cultural heritage to foster religious solidarity and local identity.
