Abstract

In the aviation industry, effective control and monitoring of apron lights are crucial for flight operations. This project focuses on designing and implementing a website-based control and monitoring system for apron flood lights using Power Line Carrier Communication (PLCC) KQ 330, intended as a learning tool at Jayapura Aviation Polytechnic. The research method involves designing a system with components such as NodeMCU ESP8266, PLCC KQ 330 module, Arduino Uno, and other supporting elements, followed by functional and integration testing to ensure proper operation. Results demonstrate that the system can efficiently control and monitor apron flood lights via the website, offering convenience for electricians and Apron Movement Control (AMC) officers. The study concludes that the website-based system with PLCC KQ 330 enhances field efficiency and quality, while also serving as a valuable educational resource for students. Future research should focus on scaling up the system and integrating it with more complex airport infrastructures.

Abstract

This research evaluates the effectiveness of bird deterrent devices in dealing with the problem of birds on the airside at Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport, Makassar. The background of this research was driven by the need to ensure flight safety by controlling birds that often disturb the area. One of the solutions used is the bird deterrent device, but its effectiveness in repelling birds was not optimal. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with a direct observation approach, structured interviews with related parties, and documentation in the field. The results of the research indicated that the bird deterrent device used is not fully effective in repelling birds. One of the main reasons is the less-than-optimal sound frequency setting, that makes it unable to repel birds effectively in several red zone areas. Based on these findings, the research recommends increasing the frequency and sound settings of the bird deterrent device, as well as allocating the bird deterrent device to strategic locations so that the device functions effectively. With these steps, it is hoped that flight safety can further reduce incidents that threaten flight safety and bird disturbances can be minimized significantly at Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport, Makassar.

Abstract

Kawasan Keselamatan Operasional Penerbangan (KKOP) merupakan wilayah strategis di sekitar bandar udara yang memiliki peran penting dalam menjaga keselamatan operasional penerbangan. Namun demikian, pemahaman masyarakat mengenai fungsi, regulasi, dan pembatasan aktivitas di kawasan KKOP masih relatif rendah, khususnya bagi masyarakat yang tinggal di sekitar kawasan bandar udara. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini bertujuan meningkatkan pemahaman dan kesadaran masyarakat terhadap pentingnya KKOP dalam mendukung keselamatan penerbangan di Jayapura. Metode pelaksanaan dilakukan melalui pendekatan partisipatif berupa penyuluhan, diskusi interaktif, observasi lapangan, dan demonstrasi edukatif mengenai keselamatan operasional penerbangan. Kegiatan melibatkan masyarakat sekitar Gurabesi, Jayapura yang berada di sekitar kawasan operasional penerbangan. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman masyarakat mengenai pentingnya pengendalian ketinggian bangunan, vegetasi, serta pemanfaatan lahan di kawasan KKOP. Selain itu, kegiatan ini memperkuat kolaborasi antara institusi pendidikan, masyarakat, dan pemangku kepentingan dalam mendukung terciptanya lingkungan yang aman bagi operasional penerbangan. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan edukatif dan komunikasi partisipatif efektif dalam meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat terhadap keselamatan operasional penerbangan dan pengelolaan tata ruang berkelanjutan di sekitar bandar udara.
