Abstract

This study aims to examine the concept of patience from the perspective of Sufism education and its relevance to developing psychological resilience in individuals in the modern era. Using a qualitative approach based on literature, this study examines the thoughts of classical and contemporary Sufis regarding patience as a process of purifying the soul, self-control, and fortitude in facing the dynamics of life. Sufism education views patience not merely as the ability to restrain oneself, but rather as a spiritual practice that fosters deep awareness, inner calm, and active submission to the will of God. These values align with elements of psychological resilience, such as emotional regulation, cognitive flexibility, and the ability to recover from adversity. The results of this study indicate that internalizing patience through Sufism practices such as self-reflection, self-control, and self-control can strengthen individual resilience by building mutually reinforcing spiritual and psychological resilience. Thus, the concept of patience in Sufism education has a significant contribution as an alternative approach to developing psychological resilience in various educational contexts and everyday life.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze Sufi values in the moral and mental development of adolescents in Indonesia as an effort to address various psychological challenges and moral crises in the modern era. Using a qualitative approach and a literature review, this study compiled various literature sources, such as Sufi books, scientific journals, and research findings related to adolescent moral education. Data collection was conducted through documentation techniques by reviewing relevant texts and scientific works. Data were then analyzed using content analysis methods to identify the main Sufi concepts that play a role in adolescent character formation. The results indicate that Sufi values, such as tazkiyatun nafs (self-control), muhasabah (introspection), patience, gratitude, and tawadhu' (respect for oneself), contribute significantly to strengthening adolescent morality, fostering self-awareness, and enhancing mental resilience in the face of social pressures and technological developments. This study confirms that the application of Sufi values can be an effective alternative approach to developing the character of Indonesian adolescents in a more humanistic, transformative, and sustainable manner.

Abstract

Sufism (tasawuf) emerges as a spiritual approach with significant potential to support mental health through practices such as dhikr, muraqabah, hudhur al-qalb, tafakkur, and the internalization of values such as sincerity, patience, and trust in God. This study employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) guided by PRISMA standards to identify, evaluate, and synthesize empirical evidence on the relationship between Sufistic practices and mental health outcomes. Literature searches were conducted across international and national databases with inclusion criteria focusing on empirical studies exploring Sufi practices and indicators of mental well-being. Findings indicate that Sufism consistently contributes to reducing anxiety, stress, and depression while enhancing emotional stability, inner peace, and psychological well-being. Sufi-based interventions demonstrate alignment with modern psychotherapeutic mechanisms and provide notable physiological and emotional benefits. Although methodological quality varies across studies, the overall evidence supports the potential of Sufism as a complementary and holistic approach within psychospiritual therapy and mental health services. Thus, Sufism can be considered a relevant and culturally grounded intervention for supporting mental health in contemporary society.
