Abstract

Public procurement has become a key sector in achieving a Good Procurement Governance Index. As a strategic unit responsible for procurement in ministries, agencies, and local governments in Indonesia, the Government Procurement Unit (UKPBJ) must optimize leadership to achieve its objectives. This study aims to analyze the influence of transformational leadership on job performance by considering the mediating roles of affective commitment, work engagement, and self-efficacy in the context of UKPBJ in ministries and government agencies in Indonesia. This study employs a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. Data were collected through questionnaires involving 232 Civil Servants (ASN) and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the assistance of LISREL 8.8 and SPSS 25 software. The results indicate that transformational leadership positively affects employee performance both directly and through the mediating roles of affective commitment, work engagement, and self-efficacy. This research provides practical contributions to human resource management policies in the public sector, particularly in optimizing transformational leadership styles to enhance employee performance. Moreover, this study is expected to serve as a reference for implementing leadership training programs and capacity-building initiatives for ASN in UKPBJ, supporting the success of procurement governance in Indonesia.

Abstract

The rapid development of technology has shifted the way of life to be more efficient, especially in e-commerce. Indonesia is predicted to lead the growth of global e-commerce by 2024 and the sector has faced the challenge of retaining competent employees to continue innovating. This study examines the influence of intrinsic motivation and supportive leadership on the innovative behavior of employees in Indonesian e-commerce companies, with career sustainability and psychological security as mediation. The data was collected through surveys of employees at Shopee, Tokopedia, Bukalapak, Blibli, and Lazada. The analysis using the PLS-SEM method with SmartPLS includes descriptive analysis, validity, reliability, and hypothesis testing. The results of the study stated that there was an influence of intrinsic motivation and supportive leadership on innovative behavior. Then, career sustainability mediates between supportive leadership and innovative behavior but does not mediate intrinsic motivation against innovative behavior in 186 Generation Z employees of Indonesian e-commerce companies. It is hoped that this study will be used as a reference for e-commerce companies in Indonesia to implement strategies in improving the innovative behavior of their employees.

Abstract

Generation Z currently dominates the workforce in Indonesia, including in the private sector in DKI Jakarta Province. The unique characteristics of this generation such as a preference for work flexibility, self-development, and a work environment that supports values and sustainability. This study aims to analyze the influence of leadership style, motivation, compensation, and work environment on employee performance, with job satisfaction as a mediating variable on Generation Z employees in private companies in Jakarta. This study uses a quantitative approach with a causal design and survey method. Data were collected from 249 respondents with at least one year of work experience. Data testing was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using LISREL 8.8. The results indicate that motivation, compensation, and job satisfaction have a positive and significant direct effect on employee performance. Meanwhile, leadership style and work environment were found to have no positive effect on employee performance. In addition, job satisfaction was proven to mediate the variables of motivation, compensation, and work environment on employee performance. However, leadership style could not be mediated by job satisfaction in influencing employee performance. These findings emphasize the importance of compensation and work environment provided by companies, as well as motivational incentives to optimize the performance of Generation Z in the private sector. Furthermore, the selection of leadership styles within a company should be considered to enhance employee performance.

Abstract

Generation Z has become an important part of the workforce, including in the rapidly growing startup companies in Indonesia. Although known for being adaptive to technology and creative, Generation Z still faces challenges in task performance due to a lack of technical skills and low work initiative. This study aims to examine the influence of transformational leadership on the task performance of Generation Z employees in startup companies in the Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) area, through the mediating roles of psychological safety and employee engagement. The study uses a quantitative approach with the CB-SEM method. The respondents consist of 301 Generation Z employees working in startups in the Jabodetabek area. The results show that transformational leadership has a positive effect on task performance, psychological safety, and employee engagement. In addition to its direct effect on task performance, employee engagement also acts as a mediator in the relationship between transformational leadership and task performance. On the other hand, psychological safety is found to have no significant direct effect on task performance and does not mediate the relationship between transformational leadership and task performance. However, this variable can have a significant impact on task performance when mediated by employee engagement. These findings provide important insights for organizations seeking to improve the performance of Generation Z employees in startups in the Jabodetabek area through strengthening transformational leadership, psychological safety, and employee engagement.
