Abstract

The principal’s approach to improving teacher professionalism is one of the efforts to improve teacher performance in the learning process The title of the research is the principal’s approach to improving the professionalism of the teachers at the Pembina Soppeng State Kindergarten, Lalabata Distric, Soppeng Regency. The purpose of this study is to examine, analyze the principal’s approach in improving the professionalism of teachers at the Soppeng State Kindergarten, Lalabata District, Soppeng Regency. This research method uses a qualitative approach, Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation, The research subjects are school supervisors, teachers, school committees, and community leaders. The results of this study indicate: 1) The principal’s approach in improving the professional performance of teachers at the Pembina Soppeng State Kindergarten, Lalabata Distruct, Soppeng Regency was implemented well through developing teacher abilities in the learning process, increasing teacher motivation by creating a conducive and harmonious situation, fulfilling the need for facilities and infrastructure, holding the necessary training, providing opportunities to continue education, placing teachers according to their, 2) Supporting and inhibiting factors include: a) enforcing teacher discipline, b) improving teacher behavioral standards, c) enforcing school regulations , remote teacher residence, inadequate facilities, and low community participation.
