Abstract

This study aims to select libido, macroscopic semen quality, and microscopic semen quality in Bali bulls at UPTD BIBDPTHPT Baturiti, Bali. The study was conducted over two months, from August to September 2024, using eight Bali bulls. The observed libido variables included the time from courtship to ejaculation, courtship duration, time of flehmen response, false mounting, and ejaculation time. Macroscopic semen evaluation included volume, color, and odor, while microscopic evaluation covered sperm motility, sperm mass movement, and sperm concentration. The results of the libido assessment showed that the average time from courtship to ejaculation ranged from 252 to 912 seconds, courtship duration ranged from 74.4 to 444.75 seconds, flahmen response occurred between 8.4 and 17 seconds, false mounting ranged from 3.4 to 4.6 times, and ejaculation took between 3.75 and 5.6 seconds. Macroscopic evaluation showed that the average semen volume ranged from 4.52 ml to 6.8 ml, with a cream color resembling milk and a characteristic semen odor. Microscopic evaluation showed that the average sperm motility reached 70%, mass movement was graded as +++, and sperm concentration ranged from 633.6 to 926.25 x10⁶ cells/ml. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the libido and semen quality of Bali bull sires at UPTD BIBDPTHPT Baturiti were within the normal range. Among all the bulls observed, the best-performing sire was Abimayu. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini mempunyai tujuan dalam menyeleksi libido, kualitas semen makroskopis, dan kualitas semen mikroskopis pada pejantan sapi bali yang di UPTD BIBDPTHPT Baturiti, Bali. Penelitian ini dilakukan selama 2 bulan, dari bulan Agustus sampai September 2024, menggunakan 8 ekor pejantan sapi bali yang sudah. Variabel libido yang diamati meliputi jangka waktu bercumbu sampai dengan ejakulasi, lama bercumbu, waktu timbul flehmen, false mounting, dan waktu ejakulasi. Variabel evaluasi semen terdiri dari evaluasi makroskopis semen meliputi volume, warna, dan bau dan evaluasi mikroskopis mencakup motilitas spermatozoa, gerakan massa spermatozoa, dan konsentrasi spermatozoa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata jangka waktu bercumbu sampai dengan ejakulasi 252 detik hingga 912 detik, lama bercumbu sapi bali berkisar antara 74,4 detik hingga 444,75 detik, waktu timbul flehmen antara 8.4 detik hingga 17 detik, false mounting 3,4 hingga 4,6 kali, dan ejakulasi 3,75 hingga 5,6 detik. Evaluasi makroskopis menunjukkan bahwa rata rata volume semen berkisar antara 4,52 ml hingga 6,8 ml dengan warna krem menyerupai susu dan bau khas semen. Evaluasi mikroskopis menujukkan bahwa rata-rata motilitas spermatozoa mencapai 70%, gerakan massa +++ dan konsentrasi spermatozoa berkisar antara 633,6 hingga 926,25 x10⁶ sel/ml. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa libido, kualitas semen pejantan sapi bali di UPTD BIBDPTHPT Baturiti berada dalam batas norma dan pejantan sapi bali yang terbaik adalah pejantan abimayu.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of adding a mixture of turmeric extract (Curcuma domestica Val.) and honey (Apis sp.) through drinking water on the performance of broiler chickens, as well as to identify the optimal supplementation level. The research was conducted in Cengolo Village, Tabanan District, Tabanan Regency, for a duration of 25 days. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was used, consisting of four treatments and five replications, with each treatment containing four broiler chickens. The study utilized a litter-type housing system, with each pen measuring 80 cm in length and 90 cm in width, and the pen dividers were made of plywood. The broilers were assigned to four treatment groups: P0 (without turmeric extract and honey), P1 (1% mixture of turmeric extract and honey), P2 (2% mixture), and P3 (3% mixture), all administered through drinking water. Observed variables included feed intake, water intake, initial and final body weight, weight gain, and feed conversion ratio (FCR). The results showed that supplementation with a 2% mixture of turmeric extract and honey significantly increased (P<0.05) weight gain and final body weight. However, there were no significant differences (P>0.05) observed in feed intake, water intake, and feed conversion ratio compared to P0, although the values were numerically higher. It can be concluded that supplementation with a 2% mixture of turmeric extract and honey through drinking water can improve weight gain and final body weight in broilers. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian campuran sari kunyit (Curcuma domestica Val.) dan madu (Apis sp.) melalui air minum terhadap performa broiler serta menentukan level pemberian yang terbaik. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Desa Cengolo, Kecamatan Tabanan, Kabupaten Tabanan, berlangsung selama 25 hari, menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan empat perlakuan dan lima ulangan serta setiap perlakuan diisi dengan 4 ekor ayam. Kandang yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kandang litter. Setiap petak kandang memiliki panjang 80 cm dan lebar 90 cm dan sekat pada kandang terbuat dari triplek. Broiler diberikan perlakuan dengan empat kelompok, yaitu P0 (tanpa penambahan sari kunyit dan madu), P1 = 1% (campuran sari kunyit dan madu), P2 = 2% (campuran sari kunyit dan madu) dan P3 = 3% (campuran sari kunyit dan madu) melalui air minum. Variabel yang diamati meliputi konsumsi ransum, konsumsi air minum, bobot badan awal dan akhir, pertambahan bobot badan, dan feed convertion ratio. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan sari kunyit dan madu melalui air minum pada level 2% dapat meningkatkan secara nyata (P<0,05) pertambahan bobot badan dan bobot badan akhir broiler, namun pada variabel konsumsi ransum, konsumsi air minum, dan feed convertion ratio menunjukan hasil yang tidak berbeda nyata (P>0,05) lebih tinggi dari P0. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa penambahan campuran sari kunyit dan madu dengan level 2% melalui air minum dapat meningkatkan pertambahan bobot badan dan bobot akhir broiler.

Abstract

Turmeric is known to have antibacterial and antioxidant properties, while honey contains antimicrobial and immunostimulant compounds that have the potential to increase the growth and quality of broiler carcasses. This study aims to evaluate the Physical Composition of Broiler Carcasses Given a Mixture of Turmeric Juice (Curcuma domestica Val.) With Honey (Apis sp.) Through Drinking Water. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of four treatments and five replications. The treatments consisted of P0 = 0% mixture of turmeric juice and honey, P1 = 1% mixture of turmeric juice and honey, P2 = 2% mixture of turmeric juice and honey, and P3 = 3% mixture of turmeric juice and honey. The variables observed included carcass weight, carcass percentage, meat percentage, bone percentage, and fat and skin percentage. The results showed that the administration of a mixture of turmeric juice with honey had an effect on broiler carcass variables. The highest broiler carcass weight in treatment P2 was (1671.00g/head). The highest carcass percentage was also found in P2 (81.07%), significantly different between treatments (P>0.05), the highest meat percentage was found in P2 (59.91%), but not significant (P>0.05). The lowest bone percentage was found in P2 (28.93%), with a non-significant difference (P>0.05). The lowest subcutaneous fat percentage including skin was also found in P2 (11.16%), but the difference was not significant (P>0.05). The conclusion of this study is that giving a mixture of turmeric juice and honey through drinking water as much as 2% can improve the physical composition of broiler carcasses. ABSTRAK Kunyit dikenal memiliki sifat antibakteri dan antioksidan, sementara madu mengandung senyawa antimikroba dan imunostimulan yang berpotensi meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan kualitas karkas broiler. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi komposisi fisik karkas broiler yang diberikan campuran sari kunyit (Curcuma domestica Val.) dengan madu (Apis sp.) melalui air minum. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) terdiri dari empat perlakuan dan lima ulangan. Perlakuan terdiri dari P0= 0% campuran sari kunyit dan madu, P1= 1% campuran sari kunyit dan madu, P2= 2% campuran sari kunyit dan madu, dan P3= 3% campuran sari kunyit dan madu. Variabel yang diamati meliputi berat karkas, persentase karkas, persentase daging, persentase tulang, dan persentase lemak dan kulit. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pemberian campuran sari kunyit dengan madu berpengaruh terhadap variabel karkas broiler. Berat karkas broiler tertinggi perlakuan P2 sebesar (1671,00g/ekor). Persentase karkas tertinggi juga ditemukan pada P2 (81,07%), berbeda nyata antar perlakuan (P>0,05), persentase daging tertinggi terdapat pada P2 (59,91%), namun tidak signifikan (P>0,05). Persentase tulang terendah ditemukan pada P2 (28,93%), dengan perbedaan yang non signifikan (P>0,05). Persentase lemak sub kutan termasuk kulit terendah juga terdapat pada P2 (11,16%), tetapi perbedaannya tidak signifikan (P>0,05). Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah pemberian campuran sari kunyit dengan madu melalui air minum sebanyak 2% mampu memperbaiki komposisi fisik karkas broiler.
