Abstract

Household waste management remains a persistent challenge in urban communities, particularly in relation to low public awareness, limited waste sorting practices, and the lack of practical waste utilization at the community level. This international community service activity addressed these issues by promoting sustainable household waste management through community empowerment and cross-national knowledge exchange between Indonesia and Russia. The main objective of the activity was to enhance community understanding, skills, and environmental awareness by introducing applicable waste management practices supported by international perspectives. The activity was conducted through a collaboration between Universitas Krisnadwipayana and a partner university in Russia and implemented in Kelurahan Duren Jaya. The methods applied consisted of community education, participatory training, and science and technology diffusion. Educational sessions and interactive discussions were used to strengthen conceptual understanding, while hands-on training and demonstrations focused on practical waste utilization, particularly the processing of used cooking oil into environmentally friendly products. Data were collected qualitatively through observation, participant discussions, and reflective evaluations. The results indicate a substantial improvement in participants’ understanding and practical abilities in household waste management. A notable shift was observed from low levels of awareness toward more applied and practice-oriented understanding. Community participation was high throughout the activity, and participants demonstrated interest in adopting the introduced practices. The involvement of international speakers enriched the learning process by providing comparative insights that were relevant and adaptable to local conditions.

Abstract

Corporate culture plays a critical role in shaping employees’ interactions, behaviors, and work experiences; however, limited research has examined how culture itself can be utilized as a strategic instrument to cultivate an inclusive work climate. This gap persists because most studies position DEI initiatives as the drivers of cultural change rather than viewing culture as the foundation that enables inclusivity. This study aims to analyze the role of corporate culture in creating an inclusive work climate by emphasizing leadership strengthening as a key determinant. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was conducted using recent studies on inclusive leadership, organizational culture, DEI implementation, and workplace climate. The analysis involved identifying, selecting, and synthesizing relevant literature to derive an integrated conceptual pattern. The findings indicate that inclusive leadership drives the development of a culture that promotes openness, fairness, and collaboration, which subsequently fosters an inclusive work climate through psychological safety, employee engagement, and perceptions of justice. DEI programs and practices further reinforce this process by providing institutional mechanisms for embedding cultural values. In conclusion, corporate culture can be operationalized as a strategic instrument for building an inclusive work climate, with leadership serving as the primary catalyst for organizational transformation.
